More Details on ZiPhone "True" 1.1.3 Jailbreak/Unlock

More details have emerged regarding the 1.1.3 direct jailbreak/unlock, called ZiPhone, created by Zibri. ZiPhone, which is being referred to as a "true" 1.1.3 jailbreak, specifically the method that the iPhone Dev Team was trying to keep protected until the release of the Official iPhone SDK by Apple, was released yesterday.

Since Nate True's now less than recommended jailbreak was released just days ago, there have been a few new incarnations of 1.1.3 jailbreak methods - including the first officially sanctioned by the iPhone Dev Team. As each new jailbreak method is released, things get progressively easier for the iPhone owner. The latest method, from the iPhone Dev Team, makes having a jailbroken 1.1.3 iPhone incredibly easy.

iPhone 1.1.3 Jailbreak for Mac Released

As promised, Nate True - who yesterday released a Windows version of the iPhone jailbreak for 1.1.3 - has followed up with the release of a Mac jailbreak for 1.1.3. Like the Windows version of the jailbreak, it is required that you either start with a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 iPhone or downgrade your 1.1.3 iPhone to one of these versions.

Well, we said we wouldn't be releasing news about a 1.1.3 jailbreak again until something concrete was available. That was just a few hours ago, and that something concrete is already here. Earlier this afternoon, notable iPhone hacker Nate True released instructions on his blog on how to jailbreak 1.1.3. Like the 1.1.2 jailbreak, this latest version requires that you start with an already jailbroken phone of an earlier version.

As is typical with the iPhone rumor mill, things are starting to get out of control. Less than an hour ago, we brought you a recent piece of news/rumor that was spreading on the web which suggested that the iPhone jailbreak for 1.1.3 would be released either tonight or tomorrow. According to the "latest latest" rumors, this may now be false.

According to gadget blog MyiTablet, this news - which was picked up by a number of sites (including this one) - was little more than a prank. According to MyiTablet,

Truth is, these rumors are false. There is no v1.1.3 jailbreak being released soon. There really is no projected date on when a 1.1.3 jailbreak will be available, but the dev team is working hard on it.

The author indicates that the delays with the new jailbreak method are a result of the increasingly complex security in the 1.1.3 firmware, which requires applications to be run in restricted user mode. This increased security is reportedly making it more difficult for the dev teams to successfully jailbreak the iPhone in a manner which allows it to work with existing third party applications.
