As is typical with the iPhone rumor mill, things are starting to get out of control. Less than an hour ago, we brought you a recent piece of news/rumor that was spreading on the web which suggested that the iPhone jailbreak for 1.1.3 would be released either tonight or tomorrow. According to the "latest latest" rumors, this may now be false.

According to gadget blog MyiTablet, this news - which was picked up by a number of sites (including this one) - was little more than a prank. According to MyiTablet,

Truth is, these rumors are false. There is no v1.1.3 jailbreak being released soon. There really is no projected date on when a 1.1.3 jailbreak will be available, but the dev team is working hard on it.

The author indicates that the delays with the new jailbreak method are a result of the increasingly complex security in the 1.1.3 firmware, which requires applications to be run in restricted user mode. This increased security is reportedly making it more difficult for the dev teams to successfully jailbreak the iPhone in a manner which allows it to work with existing third party applications.

This contention is directly contrary to those previously made by other sources, which leaves the responsibility of making

third party apps with jailbroken 1.1.3 phones on the side of the application developers, not the jailbreak itself.

As usual, little is confirmed and sources are in shortly supply. For now, we're bailing out of this frenzy until some conclusive information is available.
