Organize the Messages app with a group conversations tab

tweak groupme

The jailbreak tweak GroupMe helps to reorganize the Messages app on iOS devices. Normally group texts and group iMessage conversations are listed in the same place as messages sent directly to one person. While this isn't a major problem, it can lead to confusion and slow down the message sending process. GroupMe avoids this mess entirely by adding two tabs to the bottom of the stock Messages app. With GroupMe installed, message threads are separated by type.

tweak groupme2

As you might have guessed, the first tab contains only individual messages. Tap the Groups tab and only group messages will be displayed. Each list separates out the different types of messages, making things simple and clear. Other functions of the Messages app are not affected, such as searching or creating a new message. There are no settings or options to configure, but there is a toggle to switch off GroupMe and remote the tabs in Messages.

GroupMe is available from the BigBoss repo on Cydia for $0.99. To start customizing iOS, click here for instructions on jailbreaking iOS 8.0-8.1.2. Those with older firmware can jailbreak with Pangu (iOS 7.1) or evasi0n 7 (iOS 7.0). Find out how to purchase and install Cydia tweaks with this guide.
