Five Nights at Freddy's 4 trailer hints at new direction for the horror franchise

Five Nights at Freddy's 4

Developer Scott Cawthon uploaded the trailer for Five Nights at Freddy's 4 to YouTube on Monday. Cawthon didn't release an official synopsis for the game, but the trailer reveals that the fourth chapter will take place in a house, instead of at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza restaurant. This is the first time the horror franchise will take place in a more conventional horror movie setting.

Fans are hoping that the fourth game of the franchise will answer some of the unanswered mysteries of the previous titles. TouchArcade has put together a really good Five Nights at Freddy's plot guide explaing the entire story up until this point, in case you need a refresher. The game is also currently being developed into a movie by Ring producer Roy Lee, for those who want to learn more about Freddy Fazbear, but don't feel like playing the games. Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg have also signed up to produce.

No official release date has been announced for Five Nights at Freddy's 4. Cawthon originally announced that the game would be released "October 2014," but recent rumors have suggested that it could launch as early as August.
