New iOS Apps, Games and JB Tweaks of the Week: Minecraft: Story Mode and more

Apple has confirmed that its next big media event will be held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, CA. The company is expected to announced the next-generation iPhone and possibly unveil a refreshed Apple TV. The media player is rumored to be getting an updated design, A8 chip and new, bigger remote with Wii-like motion controls and a Siri microphone, according to Tech Crunch. If true, this will be a potential game changer for mobile gaming.

The iPhone keynote will take place 10 a.m. PDT on Wednesday, September 9th. Apple users will be able to watch a live stream on the Apple Events page using thier Mac, iPod touch, iPhone, iPad or PC running Microsoft’s Edge browser on Windows 10.

Telltale this week released a few screenshots of its upcoming Minecraft: Story Mode. Telltale is set to unveil more details about the adventure game at PAX this weekend.

Minecraft: Story Mode stars Patton Oswalt as male Jesse, Catherine Taber as female Jesse, Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton, Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, Billy West, and Paul Reubens.

Lara Croft GO: $4.99 for the iPod touch, iPhone and iPad (Requires iOS 7.0 or later) Rated 9+

When you think about it Tomb Raider is basically an action-adventure video game with puzzles, so Lara Croft starring in a "puzzle-adventure" title on mobile devices isn't such a bad idea. Lara Croft GO is an App Store Editor's Choice that takes place in the ruins of an ancient civilization where Croft is trying to uncover the myth of the Queen of Venom. The game features great looking graphics, swipe-to-move controls, enemies, more than 75 puzzles and the ability to find ancient relics and unlock new outfits.

Whispering Willows: $4.99 for the iPod touch, iPhone and iPad (Requires iOS 5.1.1 or later) Rated 12+

This horror adventure title follows Elena Elkhorn, a young girl who can use astral projection to communicate with the dead. Players must help Elkhorn solve puzzles and avoid evil spirits to find her missing father. The game features handdrawn 2D art, 20 achievements, mysteries to unlock and bluetooth controller support. Calvino Noir: $3.99 for the iPod touch, iPhone and iPad (Requires iOS 8.0 or later) Rated 12+

Built using Apple's programing interface Metal, this stealth game takes players on an adventure through the 1930s European criminal underworld. The game is set in a dark and surreal city "inspired by the futuristic dystopian visions of Deus Ex and Blade Runner". It features seven levels stretched across three acts (Acts II and III are available as IAPs), controller support and multiple characters for you to control.

The Walking Dead: Road to Survival: Free for the iPod touch, iPhone and iPad (Requires iOS 6.0 or later) Rated 17+

Free-to-play Walking Dead Game based on the television show. Build your own group of survivors and take over Woodbury. You can also unlock popular characters from the show, build your own base and make decisions that affect the outcome of the game.
