Some rumors had appeared of Rogers Wireless offering an 8GB iPhone 3GS in Canada. These reports were based on iPhone comparison charts on the company's website that showed the existence of an 8GB iPhone 3GS.
These rumors have been confirmed false by Rogers. A company spokesperson stated that the 8GB iPhone 3GS apeared due to a formatting error on the website.
Elsewhere on the Rogers Wireless website there was no mention of an 8GB iPhone 3GS model, only the 16GB and 32GB models. Some had speculated that Rogers intended to sell the rest of their 8GB iPhone 3G inventory to make room for a 3GS model with the same storage capacity.
The Rogers table indicated $99 pricing on the non-existent 8GB 3GS, the same price as an 8GB 3G.
iPhone 3G models lack a digital compass, video recording, and voice control. The older generation model also has a slower processor and less RAM than the iPhone 3GS.
