Fans of the Angry Birds franchise will be happy to know that Rovio's popular Facebook game is coming to iOS on May 2nd. Angry Birds Friends is the next installment in the Angry Birds series of games available on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The Facebook version of the game was launched one year ago and attracts over a million daily users.
It's not clear whether or not the Angry Birds Friends app will require Facebook Connect to play. Since the game is designed for social interaction, players can create bird avatars, gift power ups to friends, and invite friends to play the game. In addition, many other features will be incorporated into the game including in-app purchases to enhance the experience.
Coming off the big Angry Birds Star Wars announcement, Rovio has issued a Halloween-themed update to its Angry Birds Seasons game. The update brings 30-levels of haunted pig action, and a new character called Frankenswine.
The newly announced Angry Birds Star Wars app won't be available until November 8, but fans of both franchises can begin collecting the toy line starting on October 28th. Several online retailers are currently accepting pre-orders for the toys which include: A Jenga Death Star Game, an Angry AT-AT Attack Battle Game, and five plush Angry Birds / Star Wars characters (Darth Vader, Luke, a Stormtrooper, Leia and Han Solo).
Rovio Entertainment has also rolled out a line of new Angry Bird themed Halloween costumes for children and adults, and also plan to release an Angry Birds / Star Wars apparel line in the near future. The game will be available on more platforms including iOS, Android, Amazon's Kindle Fire, Mac, and Microsoft's Windows, Windows Phone and Windows 8. Rovio promises that both franchises will be well represented in the crossover.
"From the deserts of Tatooine to the depths of the Death Star – the game and merchandise will feature the Angry Birds characters starring as the iconic heroes of the beloved Saga," Rovio said.
Move over Furby! Rovio Entertainment is preparing to announce what will surely be one of the hottest selling holiday toys this year. Rovio and Lucasfilm will unveil an Angry Birds / Star Wars toy line at 10:00AM ET in Times Square, New York City. An image of a Star Wars themed Angry Birds Jenga Death Star was leaked this weekend. Various sources have also reported that a Star Wars themed Angry Birds game for iOS and Android devices is in development.
Little is known about the game, but we do know the red bird will be Luke Skywalker. I assume the Angry Birds will be battling pigs dressed as Stormtroopers on planets like Tatooine and Hoth. Rovio will also be making the big announcement at the Toys R Us Times Square location, making me wonder if the toy lineup will be a Jeffrey the Giraffe exclusive?
The Angry Birds franchise is going to a galaxy far, far away. Rovio Entertainment hinted about the next Angry Birds tie-in on their official Tumblr page on Friday.

Rovio Entertainment is attempting to freshen up their popular Angry Birds franchise by releasing Bad Piggies on September 27. The new game for iOS, Android and Mac devices tells the other side of the Angry Birds' story by allowing fans to play as the pigs.
"There's a lot of empathy towards the lovable enemies from the Angry Birds games, and we've been constantly asked: what about the pigs' side of the story?" said Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio. "Bad Piggies gives you the chance to play as the second-most-loved characters in the Angry Birds universe, and explore this rich world through their green eyes."
Rovio Mobile Ltd. released the teaser trailer for the next Angry Birds game on Friday. Angry Birds Red Planet is the follow-up to Angry Birds Space which was released earlier this year.
Rovio is also working on a new pig based game in hopes to freshen up the Angry Birds franchise, which surpassed the 1 billion download mark back in May. According to Pocket-Lint, the new game will be played through the perspective of the pigs, rather than the birds. Players will be tasked with defending their eggs from a catapult assault. The game will feature pig and Angry Bird characters with different strengths and skill sets. Angry Birds Space: Red Planet is expected be avilable sometime this fall, and the new pig-based came is expected to land on iOS devices sometime before Christmas.
Rovio Mobile Ltd. has released Angry Birds Space version 1.1.0 with 10 new levels of pig popping action! iOS users will receive 20 free space eagles with the update and one additional space eagle for each daily log in. Version 1.1.0 also fixes crash issues in older devices.
Angry Birds Space version 1.1.0 is available now for the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation) and most Android devices (no free eagles for Android users!). The number one mobile game of all time is only $0.99 in the iTunes App Store.

The next installment of Rovio's blockbuster Angry Birds series has arrived for iOS devices. Angry Birds Space takes the game to an entirely new level, with physics that game designers actually discussed with NASA employees. The birds are still going after the pigs, but this time there are 60 levels in zero-gravity and on different planets.
Angry Birds Space has been getting rave reviews and already in its first day on the App Store iOS device owners have rated the game at 4.5 out of 5 stars. In addition to hidden bonus levels, there are new birds and bird superpowers to be used against the pigs and their fortifications.
