Apple AirPlay coming to Samsung and Vizio Smart TVs

One of the more interesting revelations at CES 2019 is good news for Apple fans shopping for a new TV. Both Samsung and Vizio have announced plans to support AirPlay 2 on future Smart TV models. Apple has added details to its official AirPlay page, showing direct integration of AirPlay to upcoming TV sets.

HomeKit-enabled devices from Hunter Fan Company, iDevices and iHome are making a splash at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. All three companies have unveiled iOS-controlled home products such as ceiling fans and dimmer switches.

The Hunter Fan Company announced two Wi-Fi enabled fans named Symphony and Signal at CES 2016. iOS users can control Symphony and Signal with Siri or sync them to other HomeKit-enabled products to create "custom scenes." An example of a custom scene given by Hunter include automatically turning on the fan's light, locking your door and setting your temperature "in just one step."

Fitbit to kick off CES 2016 with Tuesday morning press conference

CES 2016 officially kicks off for everyone on January 6, but Fitbit will get the ball rolling on Tuesday with an early morning keynote during press day (January 5). The fitness tracking company plans to capitalize on its successful holiday sales by holding the first press conference of the week at 7:30 a.m.. It is unknown exactly what Fitbit plans to announce during the event, but analysts expect new slimmer devices with more capabilities and sensors. It will be interesting to see if Fitbit can continue holding off the Apple Watch and remain the leading fitness device manufacturer. The company's free iOS app recently led Apple App Store downloads in December suggesting it had strong sales throughout the 2015 holidays.

LifeProof Announces Waterproof iPhone 6 Case That Doubles Your Battery Power

Case manufacturer LifeProof today unveiled its newest waterproof iPhone 6 case at CES 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Fre Power is not only waterproof up to 6.6 feet, but it is also equipped with a 2,600 mAH battery, which LifeProof claims will double your iPhone's battery life. The backup also features “smart charging technology” that allows it to shut itself down when your battery is fully charged.

LifeProof also claims that its Fre Power case will protect your iPhone from falls as high as 6.6 feet, and that it is dust and snow proof. Pricing and availability are unknown at this time, but you can sign up for a Fre Power email notification at LifeProof.com.

Kevo Plus: Lock manufacturer Kwikset unveiled Kevo Plus, an extension of its Kevo platform. The upgrade allows existing and new Kevo smartlock owners to lock and unlock their doors from anywhere in the world. Other new features include real time activity monitoring and the ability to distribute an unlimited number of Anytime and Scheduled eKeys to other users of the app. The Kwikset Bluetooth enabled deadbolt is available through Kwikset.com or Amazon.com. The Kevo deadbolt and iOS app work with your iPhone so you never have to fumble around with physical keys ever again.
