New Apps of the Week: Noted, Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project and More

There were a lot of well received games released to the Apple App Store this week, but not a lot of free titles. If you are only looking for free games, you can still grab Super Stickman Golf 2 and Pac-Man for free for a limited time. Other App Store highlights include the return of Duke Nukem, and Yahoo's push to take over iOS Home screens with the release of its news app on January 1st, and its overhauled Sports app.

Here's a quick look at some of the new games and apps released to the Apple App Store this week (01/05/14 to 01/11/14).

New iOS Apps and JB Tweaks of the Week: Jet Car Stunts 2, NoSlowAnimations, Virtual Home

The Apple App Store was still a little hungover from the holidays which made for a slow week of new app and game releases. Meanwhile the jailbreaking community was really busy creating new tweaks after the Cydia Substrate was updated for iOS 7 devices. Here's a quick look at some of the new apps, games and jailbreak tweaks released this week (12/29/13 to 01/04/14).

Jet Car Stunts 2: Free for the iPod touch, iPhone and iPad (Requires iOS 6 or later) Rated 4+

Jet Car Stunts 2

The sequel to the popular racing game that challenges you to complete outlandish tracks and impossible jumps with different jet powered cars. Highly recommended! Very challenging and fun. Jet Car Stunts 2 includes 120 levels, 3 difficulties each, (available through IAP), 7 cars with varied handling, 4 game modes and level creation and sharing.

New iOS 7 Jailbreak Tweaks of the Week

Since the iTunes Connect developer portal was shutdown for the holidays from Dec. 21 through Dec. 27. there were no new apps released to the App Store this week. Instead we will look at the new iOS jailbreak tweaks released to Cydia. The jailbreak tool evasi0n 7 was released on Dec. 22 for all devices running iOS 7.0 through 7.0.4. iOS 6 Icons For iOS 7: Free (Requires Winterboard)

This is a simple theme that allows you to restore your iOS 7 Home screen icons to iOS 6 icons. The tweak is available in the BigBoss repo and requires Winterboard to install.

DockShift: Free (Requires iOS 7 or later)

Another free theme that gives you various dock background options. Does not work with the iPhone 4.

NCAllOnly: Free (Requires iOS 7 or later)

This theme removes the "Today" and "Missed" tabs from Notification Center on iOS 7.

New iOS Apps of the Week: Cut the Rope 2, MyGlass for iOS and More

Here are some of the top apps and games released to the Apple App Store this week (12/15/13 to 12/22/13). This was a really big week for new and retro games plus two huge sequels were also released!

Cut the Rope 2: $0.99 for the iPod touch, iPhone and iPad (Requires iOS 4.3 or later) Rated 4+

One of the most anticipated sequels in App Store history, Cut the Rope 2 features all new characters, levels, and tricky missions. In the sequel Om Nom enlists the aid of the Nommies to help him collect candy. New features include: 120 entirely new levels, 5 new characters, new graphics, sound and gameplay elements.

Cabela’s Big Game Hunter: Free for the iPod touch, iPhone and iPad (Requires iOS 5 or later) Rated 12+

Activision Publishing and Cabela have teamed up to bring the popular hunting video game franchise to mobile devices. Cabela’s Big Game Hunter allows players to take on various missions to hunt the biggest and most dangerous animals in the world. Features include: Multi-tiered, objective-based missions, real life locales, customizable firearms and gear and leaderboard support.
