Let's hope that the AJAX+CSS solution Jobs touted at the WWDC isn't all Apple plans for 3rd party apps. Web applications are NOT true applications.

Apple even calling them 3rd party apps is misleading and sort of a cop out.

it may not be spectacular, but some of the apps that are starting to pop up are looking pretty neat. if it kinda helps the security of my 600 dollar phone, and helps it not crash, i'm all for it

I'm confused, what would help your phone's security and it not to crash?
Additional applications regardless of what/how they are would only increase such risks, regardless how small or large they might be to begin with.
