Generic AV Cable

Hey guys!! My name is Alain and this is my first post...
I bought a generic av cable to play my videos on my tv. It worked fine until i upgraded to firmware 2.1 I read that the authentic cables bring a chip, so im gessing that in the new firmware there is something checking for that chip, so im sure there's a way to SSH into the firmware and erase whatever file it is that is checking for this chip. Anyone have any idea??
