iPhone shuts off constantly.

I just recently purchased my 8g iPhone. I noticed, though, that the iPhone continuously shuts off on its own. At least 5 times a day, (On an all black screen) when I press the bottom square button, nothing happens. This is when the slider is supposed to appear to unlock. Then I have to press the top right button and front bottom square button for about 10 - 15 seconds to re-boot the iPhone (My brother told me about the reboot function). Does anyone have this happen to them, or does anyone know a setting that I might need to change?

Should I go through APple directly or take it back to the AT&T store where I purchased it?

I've been having exactly the same problem since going to version 2 of the software. I sent it to Apple, paid for a temp phone, never had a problem with the temp phone, got the phone back with a note saying they could not duplicate the problem, and within a few minutes of restoring my phone, it started shutting itself off again. I'm back on the phone to Apple.

Yes , I Agree Wid "Cjs" Your Phone is Defective You Need To Return it Back To Apple . A Friend Of Mine had The Same Problem .
