Swype Keyboard Coming to iOS Devices Soon?

Swype virtual keyboard technology not only speeds up the process of typing on a mobile device, it holds the Guinness World Record for fastest time to type a text message. Although the software is now available on Google Play for Android devices, the feature never made it into an official iOS release.

Swype is owned by Nuance, whose voice recognition technology has been incorporated into the Siri personal assistant. Now word has it that Apple has communicated with Swype, according to a thread on Reddit from Nuance Vice President of Swype Aaron Sheedy. The revelation came in the following exchange:

IMDb iPhone App Update Brings More Enhancements

Movie fans can get even more information from the IMDb iPhone app thanks to an update to version 3.2 now available. This marks the first time since December 2012 that IMDb has received a major update, one of several since the initial launch of IMDb in late 2009. The key to IMDb is accessing information about all of your favorite movies on the go.

More facts have been added including actor heights in the personal details section, and worldwide movie release dates. The developers of IMDb have also made things more visually appealing for iPhone owners, with a fresh new page look for movies and celebrities in the app. Speaking of which, IMDb now clocks over 5 million people and 2.5 million titles in the catalog.

How to Block Mature Content on Your iPhone

Apple has a strict no adult content policy for the App Store, but the recent increase of social sharing services is making it impossible for the company to police every app available for iOS devices. Apple recently pulled the popular photo-sharing app 500px because users were able to access nude images. The app was eventually allowed back into the App Store, but its removal prompted Apple to makes its App Store age ratings more visible to users. Some apps like the video sharing service Vine, have also been slapped with a 17+ rating due to people uploading adult content to their profiles. Luckily for parents there is a way to block children from downloading mature rated content, however, parents should still monitor what their children are doing with their mobile devices.

iPhone Restrictions

For example, Snapchat allows users to send pictures and texts that are deleted within seconds after being seen. The app has been criticized for misleading kids into thinking it's safe to send compromising photos because they will eventually disappear. However, anyone who knows how to take a screenshot can easily save an image sent to them through the app. Snapchat does alert the sender if a screenshot has been taken, but by that point the damage has already been done.

LEGO Batman: DC Super Heroes Now Available for the iPhone and iPad

The official LEGO Batman: DC Super Heroes iOS game is now available for download through the Apple App Store. Players can choose between 80 playable characters (after they're unlocked or purchased through the app's in-game store) like Green Lantern and The Flash to do battle with DC's most notorious villains. The game also features plenty of abilities to master and fun gadgets, like Batman's Batarangs, to play with.

Free iPhone Games

LEGO Batman is the first LEGO iOS game to feature voiceovers for the mini-figs, and it also offers the ability to switch between “Classic” and “Touch Screen” controls. Other features include Retina display graphics, standard achievements and Game Center support.

Simulate Light Field Photography on the iPhone

There's no shortage of different ways to capture and share photos with the iPhone. One thing the camera cannot do is snap a light field photo. These images, pioneered by Lytro, can be refocused after they are recorded. Now with FocusTwist this capability can be simulated on the iPhone.

FocusTwist app iOS

The app creates refocusable images by snapping several photos in a row, using different focus settings for each one. After they are combined by FocusTwist, you can share a link to the resulting image on Twitter. People viewing your work can then focus on different parts of the scene, much like the result of using a Lytro camera.
