Flexible 'Yoga' iPhone 5? Not So Fast

Could bending and twisting iPhones be coming to consumers in 2012? Not likely, however a report in Korea Times has industry watchers talking about flexible screen technology anyway. Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Kwon Oh-hyun told the publication his company is getting ``huge’’ orders for its line of flexible OLED displays.

When it comes to component manufacturers getting huge orders for their products, Apple immediately comes to mind as a likely buyer. Apple has been one of Samsung's largest customers for mobile displays despite their competition in the smartphone market and raging patent battles.

More Regional Carriers Get the iPhone 4S

Now there are 13 different carrier choices for the iPhone 4S across the United States. Not only this, but Puerto Rico has joined in the fun with its own local carrier Open Mobile offering the Apple device. The iPhone has come a long way since 2007, when Apple had a deal with exclusive carrier AT&T for the iPhone.

Oklahoma-based Pioneer Cellular is the latest regional carrier to announce support for the iPhone, and has started rolling out the device in its stores. Pioneer will continue to release the iPhone 4S at additional stores across the state every other week. Data plans with the carrier start at $30 per month.

Sony Releases Music Unlimited Application for iOS Devices

Sony officially launched its Music Unlimited app for the iPhone in New Zealand on Monday. The app should be available in the U.S. and other supported markets soon. It is free to download and offers two paid subscription options: a $4 Basic plan and a $10 Premium plan with 30-day free trial. The music streaming service was previously only available to Android and PlayStation 3 owners.

The Basic plan grants you access to all the basic channels, while the Premium plan offers access to Sony’s full catalogue plus other goodies (see list of Premium features below). Spotify users should know what to expect. The Sony Music Unlimited app is compatible with the iPhone and iPod. It's also compatible with the iPad but it's not optimized for the device.

iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak 'Info Sheet'

iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd has confirmed that an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 will be released this week. Over the weekend, pod2g tweeted that "something big" was going to happen at the Hack In The Box security conference in Amsterdam being held May 21 through May 25. He later added that a public release was only a few days away. On Monday, MuscleNerd released an iOS 5.1.1 "info sheet" that revealed how the iPhone 3GS and iPod 3G made the jailbreak cut.

Sprint Offers $100 iPhone Trade-In for New Customers

Looking for a new iPhone 4S with an unlimited data plan? Sprint is hoping to lure customers with older iPhones from rivals Verizon and AT&T, both companies that have ceased offering unlimited data plans to their iPhone customers.
