Users complaints about iPhone 4S SIM card error messages that read "Invalid SIM" and "SIM Failure" have been piling up on the Apple Support forums since the device went on sale in October. The glitch prevents users from using their phones when the SIM card is in the slot.

According to ZDNet this is not a new problem. The Sim card error message is from a design flaw that has affected the iPhone 4 in the past. Sometimes the SIM card causes a short circuit when it makes contact with the tray eject mechanism. The short circuit causes the error making the SIM card unable to connect with the wireless provider. This prevents users from performing the most basic functions like texting or placing phone calls.

The fact that Siri is limited to the iPhone 4S is a huge limitation for some users who would like to use the technology for other applications. Desktop computer software designed for voice dictation of text with similar accuracy to Siri can be expensive. Although we haven't seen this invention released on any mobile computing products, according to Patently Apple the company filed a patent for this drop protection system in the first half of 2010. It could be just what the doctor ordered if Apple continues to use glass so prominently in its mobile computing products.

Unlocking the iPhone has always required jailbreaking and paying close attention to custom firmware and basebands. Now thanks to a simple process, the iPhone 4S can be unlocked without jailbreaking. This process makes use of a bug in iOS 5 and allows the iPhone to be used on T-Mobile. Of course, there are some caveats.

As OS X Daily reports, some users have had to go through the process several times to make it work. This process requires an AT&T (GSM) iPhone 4S, and will not work with the Verizon or Sprint iPhone. Also, the T-Mobile SIM card must be cut down to Micro SIM size before the process begins in order to fit in the iPhone 4S.

iLounge is promising three new Apple products in 2012. According to their "most reliable source," the iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro will all be receiving redesigns next year. The next generation iPhone will not feature the rumored teardrop-design we were promised in 2011. Instead it will feature a 4-inch display, aluminum back and be 8mm longer than the current models. The new iPhone will be available sometime next summer.

Another "industry source," who claims to have handled an iPhone 5 prototype, confirmed it featured an aluminum back and larger screen. The scrapped iPhone 5 was also supposed to be equipped with a 10-megapixel camera and be available in various colors.
