Coming Next Week: iPhone OS 4.0 and Apple Tablet?

Next Wednesday Apple will announce several new products at its special media event in San Francisco. Pictured is the invitation the company sent out to selected media outlets today.

Sources inside Apple have reportedly confirmed that iPhone OS version 4.0 will be announced along with a new touch screen tablet computing device. In addition, Apple will be announcing iLife 2010 software that will support multi-touch.

Dev-Team Working on iPhone OS 3.1.2 Jailbreak for Windows

Unbelievable that it's already been three months since the release of PwnageTool 3.1.4 for Mac OS X. The latest installment in iPhone Dev-Team's jailbreaking arsenal makes it possible to execute a tethered jailbreak on the iPhone 3GS fresh out of the box. This hardware is running iPhone OS 3.1.2.

Windows users have been waiting for a an update, and now it may be on its way. MuscleNerd has announced via Twitter that the team is working on redsn0w 0.9, a fast jailbreak solution for Windows and other platforms. No word yet on when this new version of redsn0w will be released.

Use Your iPhone as a Universal Remote Control

That's right, just plug the infrared accessory into the USB port on the bottom of your iPhone and you have a fully customizable remote control. Two companies have introduced competing products at CES 2010.

Both devices will come with a free companion app for download in the AppStore. The infrared adaptors are expected to hit stores within the first quarter of 2010 and will cost less than Wi-Fi based remote control solutions.

Flash App Development Coming to iPhone

There are over two million developers using Adobe Flash, and soon they will be able to convert their applications into iPhone apps automatically. Adobe is adding "Packager for iPhone" to its Flash developer tools.

Included in Flash Professional CS5 (Creative Suite 5), the software is currently in private beta testing. The iPhone does not support Flash, however ActionScript 3 projects will run as native iPhone apps after conversion.

Rumored 4th Generation iPhone Features Leak

The fourth generation iPhone is on its way later this year, and reports have already surfaced indicating vast improvements in hardware and functionality. Apple is taking its iPhone to the next level to insure that competition from rival smartphones are held at bay.

Wireless provider KT introduced the iPhone to South Korea in November of 2009, and sources within the company have given The Korea Times a glimpse of what Apple is planning for iPhone 4.0. Hardware upgrades include dual-core processors, improved graphics and a power-sipping organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screen.
