Unlock the iPhone with a Virtual NES Controller

Passcode unlock modifications for iOS are nothing new. Examples such as PatternUnlock and Stride provide entirely new ways to unlock the iPhone. Now with Control Unlocker a virtual NES-looking video game controller brings the passcode unlock back in time.

Even though there are no Select or Start buttons, combinations using the A and B buttons along with the D-pad can be used to lock and unlock. In its current iteration, Control Unlocker is mostly for fun. If a stock passcode is enabled, unlocking will involve entering the game pad combo followed immediately by the actual passcode.

Supercharge the iPhone Lock Screen with BuddyLock

There are many options when it comes to customizing the iPhone lock screen. Many of these jailbreak tweaks add app launchers and toggles directly to the iOS lock screen, speeding up access. Now BuddyLock joins the fray, with highly customizable theme settings, side view widgets and a built-in launcher for apps. In fact, the tweak even makes it possible to put a folder for additional app icons in the launcher.

Besides a switch to enable or disable BuddyLock, the Settings area includes sections for Theming, Lockscreen Apps, Folder and Extras. Five apps can be added to the lock screen launcher, or four apps and a folder. If the folder option is set up, four additional apps can be accessed using the folder, making a total of eight apps accessible directly from the launcher.

Yahoo Launches Redesigned Fantasy Football App

Fantasy football season is fast approaching. Managers using Yahoo leagues will be happy to know that the official Yahoo! Fantasy Sports - Football iOS app got a major facelift. Besides a slick new interface, several added features will keep team managers in control during the 2013 NFL season. One major improvement is the ability to draft a team directly on the iPhone or iPad.

The user interface has been enhanced, with several navigation improvements and faster speed. Of course, to take advantage of all the app has to offer, a Yahoo account and fantasy league is required. Everything a fantasy fan would expect is included, such as live scoring, roster management and message board access on the go.

Sprint Fires Up LTE in 41 New Markets

Not only did Sprint sell 1.4 million iPhones during the last quarter, but 41 percent of iPhone sales went to new subscribers. This is welcome news for the carrier, which has released its second quarter results. Sprint also detailed a list of 41 markets that now have LTE service including Brooklyn, Jacksonville, Nashville, Oakland, Philadelphia, and Portland among others.

The latest additions bring the total list of Sprint LTE markets across the country to 151. Unfortunately due to the closing of Nextel, the company lost 2 million customers and posted a loss of $874 million. Although Sprint is behind network giants AT&T and Verizon, the carrier expects to cover 200 million people with 4G LTE by the end of 2013.

Report: Foxconn Gearing Up for iPhone 5S Production

The iPhone 5S has completed testing and Foxconn Technology Group is ramping up for production, according to the latest from Focus Taiwan. The company is looking to hire up to 90,000 workers at its Shenzhen plant as Apple is expected to release the next iPhone in September. Foxconn is already the world's largest contract electronics maker.

Orders from Apple are expected to make up 40 percent of the company's total sales in 2013, accounting for a quarter of Foxconn's revenue for the year. Although the Taiwanese manufacturer will be producing the iPhone 5S, its rival Pegatron has been chosen by Apple to produce the lower-priced iPhone 5C. The 5C is also expected to launch this fall.
