Pinterest to Offer New Edit Home Feed Option, Tracks Your Favorite Websites

Pinterest has announced plans to add a new Edit Home Feed option that aims to makes your account more personal. The new feature basically offers content suggestions based on your pinning history. For example, if you pin a lot of sports related images, Pinterest will show you more sports related pins. The new feature will also introduce Unfollow Boards, so you can stop seeing content you don't like, and personalized board suggestions based on the websites you like to visit.

With internet paranoia at an all time high, Pinterest was quick to point out its Do Not Track option. First of all, Pinterest will only track websites that feature a "Pin It" button, however if that's still too much data collecting for your tastes, you will be able to opt out of the feature.

Apple Patent Allows iPhone Users to Share Photos and Music With On-Hold Callers

An Apple patent filed in 2011 describes an "on-hold visual menu" that would allow iPhone users to share images, music and other personal content with an on-hold caller. The new feature would replace the boring days of listening to muzak or silence while you're stuck on hold. The diagram posted below shows that on-hold callers could pursue images, look up a person's location, watch videos and even access books while waiting for someone to take their call.

Users can of course customize what kind of content gets shared, and even select different settings for family members, friends or business calls. There is also an option to alert the caller that you're ready to resume talking, via an on-screen message or vibration.

Apple Store iPhone App to Start Offering Free iTunes Content

Apple CEO Tim Cook is planning to push the Apple Store application in an effort to sell more hardware through direct Apple sales channels. Cook is disappointed that 80% of all iPhones are sold outside of Apple retails stores, and that only 20% of iOS customers are even aware there is an Apple retail app available. 9to5Mac has learned that Apple plans to redesign the application so it fits "more in line with the user-interface of the App Store, iTunes Store, and iBookstore in iOS 6."

Apple Store App

Apple employees are being instructed to install the Apple Store app to any new devices that are sold at any retail location. Apple will also offer free content as part of the push to make people more aware of the app. Cook hopes this new strategy will get more iOS users accustomed to using the largely ignored Apple service.
