iOS 6.x Jailbreak "evasi0n" Reportedly 60% Complete

This is not a drill. Unlike some of the fake iPhone 5 jailbreaks we've seen in the recent past, evasi0n is for real. The software will be supported on Linux, Mac OS X and Windows machines, and jailbreak all devices running iOS 6.0 through 6.1.

Apple Remote App Gets Update to 3.0.1 for Stability

Remote is one of those apps that can be really useful in a household with multiple Apple products. Controlling iTunes on your computer using an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch is convenient, and you can even use the app to control an Apple TV. One great shortcut is the ability to use your iPhone keyboard to fill in search fields on the Apple TV instead of selecting each letter.

Apple has released an updated version of Remote, with improvements for general stability, rating songs, search results and sorting podcasts. The app is designed to sync perfectly with the new iTunes and provides access to Up Next. Remote users are already commenting that performance is much better with version 3.0.1.

500px Photo App Returns to the iOS App Store

500px fans may have been surprised last week when Apple pulled the app thanks to some controversial images. It seems that 500px has been revised and given the all-clear from Apple, and version 2.0.3 is now available on the App Store. 500px made two major changes to the app to make sure App Store requirements were met.

First, all nude photo searches are blocked. 500px maintains that artistic nudity is allowed on their website, however users will find it more difficult to search for these images on iOS. The second major change added a mature rating to the app, requiring that users installing the app are 17 or older.

iPhone Accessory Doubles as Case and Cup Holder

What looks like it could be an April Fool's joke is actually a product vying for support on the fundraising site Indiegogo. Appropriately named the Uppercup, this device will not only protect your iPhone, but it will also hold a steaming hot cup of your favorite caffeinated beverage.

Marketing company Natwerk, based in Amsterdam is seeking $25,000 to start production of the UpperCup and start selling the cases for a retail price of $35. Of course, if you kick in $25 or $30 on Indiegogo, donations are rewarded with an Uppercup from the first production run (iPhone 4/4S and iPhone 5 respectively).

iPhone 5 Jailbreak Release Date on Super Bowl Sunday?

Now that Apple has released iOS 6.1 the full untethered iPhone 5 jailbreak isn't far behind. Developer Muscle Nerd, part of the latest dream team of iOS jailbreakers known as the evad3rs has all but announced their plans. The Super Bowl is Sunday, February 3 and he asks, what will you be doing?

Planetbeing has added to the pile of evidence pointing to a full jailbreak, explaining that iOS 6.1 is still vulnerable to all of the exploits the team was planning on using to jailbreak. Apparently the team is merging and polishing two proof of concepts to form a final public release. The entire jailbreak process has been successfully tested from start to finish.
