How do I lock rotation with iOS 7?

How do I lock rotation with iOS 7?

Locking rotation on iOS prevents apps from responding to sensors which detect device orientation. This is useful when reading, for example. With the release of iOS 7, the rotation lock toggle has been moved to Control Center.

To access Control Center and lock rotation in iOS 7 follow these steps:

1. Swipe up from the bottom of the home screen to bring up Control Center.
2. The top row of the Control Center shows 5 circular toggles.

The furthest right icon looks like an arrow around a padlock - touch this icon to enable or disable rotation lock on your device.

3. Swipe down to dismiss the Control Center.

So easy to do, yet so hard to find :( Thanks so much for the answer :)

Many thanks, so simple when you know how to do it.

I also must have locked mine somehow because this morning I noticed the lock with the arrow around it and when I searched google most (well all the other answers) were relating to pre ios7 and mentioned a different way that obviously wouldnt work in ios7.

Now thanks to this site/article I have been able to remove the lock and know how to enable/disable it in future.

Great site!

Thanks!! Someone unlocked the orientation while viewing my pictures which is rude to begin with and I didn't know how to lock it. Its so annoying for me when the screen orientation rotates

Thank you so much for this very useful information! :)

Thanks a ton

There are incorrect instructions and images in other sites but here the instructions especially point no 2 did the trick. Thanks a million tons.

Thank you!

Very helpful! Thanks much!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!

Thanks a ton. It really helped a lot.

Fantastic thanks!

Thanks so much

I am using VOICE OVER. i'm sure there's a way to do it using voice over but what I did is disabled voice over, swiped up & turned voice over on. I was able to find the button after that. I love the IPhone because as a totally Blind Person I can use it. thx for your help.

Can't thank you enough for this!!
You rock!!

This is such a bad decision. If I have a photo that's not in the right orientation and I rotate the iphone to get the right orientation then swipe up control panel the image swipes away and the rotation turns back to the incorrect orientation. That's terribly frustrating and happens all the time.

Needed information at this time. Thanks
