All iPhone models running iOS 8.0 or later now feature an app icon on the Lock screen. These shortcuts appear based on your location. For example, your Starbucks app may appear when you're near a Starbucks location. The Lock screen app shortcuts also works with the Apple Watch. The icon on the Lock screen will match the last app you were using on your Apple Watch. This allows you to quickly perform other tasks on your iPhone that you can't perform on your Watch, such as respond to emails.
The Lock screen app shortcut is connected to Apple's Siri App Suggestions. This feature has been moved to the Widgets section in iOS 10. Here's how to remove the app icon from your Lock screen:
- Swipe down from the top of your Home screen.
- Swipe right.
- Scroll down and tap the Edit button.
- Tap the red minus sign next to Siri App Suggestions then tap Remove.
- Tap Done.
Remember, this will disable all Siri App Suggestion features on your device.

It's a shame you don't have a donate button! I'd certainly donate to this excellent blog!
I guess for now i'll settle for bookmarking and adding your RSS feed to my
Google account. I look forward to fresh updates and will share this website with my Facebook group.
