How do I install/upgrade to iPhone OS 2.0?
Just one day in advance of the sale of iPhone 3G models which will come pre-loaded with iPhone OS 2.0, Apple has publically released the new iPhone operating system/firmware to the public. Owners of the existing, first generation, Apple iPhone are now free to upgrade their iPhone to OS 2.0 and start enjoying the new features, including the iPhone AppStore.
Upgrading is very easy. Simply follow the steps below and you'll have your iPhone up and running with the latest and greatest iPhone operating system.
Note: unlike traditional iPhone firmware updates, updating from pre-2.0 to 2.0 will result in the erasure of the media (songs, photos, etc) from your iPhone. Thus, for those of you that have performed an iPhone restore before, the process will be more akin to such. Once you have upgraded, you'll need to re-sync all of your media and information. As such, we strongly recommend you sync your iPhone before upgrading.
1) if you haven't already, upgrade your iTunes to version 7.7.2) connect your iPhone to your Mac/PC and click the Update button on the iPhone tab
That's it. (Yep, really).

If you want to download the firmware manually, and use the force iPhone firmware method to ugprade your iPhone to OS 2.0, you can do that to. You can download the OS 2.0 firmware from Apple via this link.

Simply not true, as of 8pm EST. I'm sure the direct firmware download works, but Apple has NOT released 2.0, and updating the iphone tab on iTunes does NOT give you 2.0, and...there is no 'update' button in iTunes, and there isn't an iPhone "tab" either.

I have to agree, there is no update via iTunes for 2.0, there is no option to chose which firmware to install after reset (defaults to the latest)...my guess is that there is a version of 2.0 floating around but no the final

You two obviously didn't upgrade to iTunes 7.7. If you do that, it offers you 2.0. I did this at 6pm.

They may have... I just ugpraded to 7.7 also and it told me "1.1.3 is the newest version" .. which is OBVIOUSLY incorrect.
HOWEVER, it turned out to be because I had my iPhone jailbroken and had the 1.1.4 compatibility fix in, so it's been telling me that forever (not even trying to go to 1.1.4).
Anyway, I think that if you have a jailbroken iPhone iTunes doesn't detect versions correctly and you need to do the manual download and force firmware install.
Either way, 2.0 is *definitely* out. It's on my phone now.

Nope. I have iTunes version 7.7 installed. It's now 10:26pm EST, and I'm still not getting iPhone 2.0. When I check for iPhone updates, I'm told that 1.1.4 is the current version. My phone is not jailbroken and never has been.
In other news, the Apple website still says that the 2.0 update is "coming soon," which would make sense, considering that...it is.
If someone thinks I'm doing something wrong, please spell it out for me.

I need real help. I had the iphone with the 1.1.4 version and decided to upgrade it to the 2.0 new version. Unfortunately everything went pretty bad. The iphone was blocked and the only thing i saw in the screen was the itunes icon and a new usb connector.
Then I decided to restore the iphone, but I get a new legend that it says that the simcard can not be recognized (ofcourse I do not have my phone with at&t).
I need really help and see if i'm able to fix it either with ziphone or any other software. Anyone knows?

I have updated my iphone 2G as above to 2.0. Now the phone is locked, as i am using it in india.
Is the unlocker for 2.0 available. Or can i undo & go back to my previous version of software.
