Can I transfer my AT&T iPhone to the Verizon Network?
Nope. Unfortunately, some information found on Verizon's website has potentially confused some unhappy AT&T iPhone owners into thinking they can jump ship with their current iPhone and not have to buy a new iPhone for the Verizon network.
This isn't the case, you cannot use an AT&T compatible iPhone 4 on the Verizon Wireless network. Your current iPhone 4 in use on the AT&T network uses GSM / HSDPA technology and is not compatible with the Verizon Wireless network. The Verizon Wireless network compatible iPhone 4 is a 3G CDMA version of the iPhone 4.

This is Verizon's loss if the are not making same net work, i know lots of people want change the the company but they cant.

I agree with you. I'm totally dissatisfied with AT&T. I'm researching now if I can keep my phone but change companies. Seems I'm out of luck on this one ://

You can if you unlock your phone. Google how to unlock phone, wipe your att iphone, unlock it, give it to your friend on verizon good to go.

No, That is not the case. It will still be a gsm phone. Unlocked, it will still only work with companies who use gsm networks. Cdma and Gsm are different technologies.

I just stumbled upon this discussion. I know it’s been a while, but I just thought I’d share a site that provides codes to unlock phones that I found recently since there seems to still be a lot of people looking for them. I used a site couple of days ago and it worked a wonder! Phone owners might be interested in checking it out, but since there are codes available for other phones as well, so would other phone owners. The site is http://unlockyoursim.com. It provides the instructions and code for your phone after selecting the carrier and model. It will also ask you to fill out a short survey, but I didn’t mind as something good actually came out of it. So I’d recommend. I hope it works for you as it did for me!

That's not true. iPhone 4S uses both gsm and CDMA . I have sprint iphone and am using it on the AT&T network. Works perfect

Yes, you can switch over an LTE iPhone from any network. More than likely if you are switching to a new carrier and want to keep your iPhone, they will unlock it for you to activate on their network. I just switched my 5s from Verizon to ATT with no problems. They just switched out the sim card.

Is it possible to switch an iPhone 5s from ATT to Verizon?
Anonymous replied on Permalink
Can you explain to me how? I have a sprint iphone 4s and cant get anyone to unlock it or anything I'm about to take this phone and stomp on it. I have att and need to figure this out. No one is willing to help me im about to lose it
Anonymous replied on Permalink
How did you do this? I'm transferring my verizon number onto an AT&T iPhone 4s but would like to keep using Verizon.

Being a CDMA network, Verizon reserves the rights to allow whichever devices they want to use their service. Verizon chooses to only allow Verizon branded devices on its network. The issue does NOT have to do with hardware or device capability, but rather Verizon wanting you to buy a device from them!
Anonymous replied on Permalink
you idiot. it has everything to do with hardware lol. if a phone is GSM it can't connect to verizon. the modem in the phone has to be able to support those bands. do your research before you go trolling around giving people false answers. people like you are why other people do everything wrong.
Anonymous replied on Permalink
Actually he is right you idiot, i took a brand new att 5s, walked into verizon and got a free sim card, and it worked just fine. It just depends what douche you get on the phone that says you cant. Just go do it, also did it with a 5c.
Anonymous replied on Permalink
did you really?! my friend broke her verizon iphone and i offered to give her my at&t iphone 5 but everything i have read so far said that i'm not able to do that, the only thing that would work is using a verizon phone on at&t network but not vice versa

Verizon Iphone 5/5s/6 can use on ATT and Tmobile networks. However, ATT iphones has to be unlocked by ATT to work on Tmobile, but it will not work on Verizon.
Anonymous replied on Permalink
You idiot, this was already addressed. You can move an att iphone 4s and up on Verizon. Pay attention.
Kevin replied on Permalink
No, you cant. I tried with an unlocked att iphone 5 yesterday. Only 5s and up u can switch to verizon from att.

I'm pretty sure all iPhones are built the same way. So as long as the esn is clean and you have the right sim you should be able to switch to whatever carrier you want. For instance when i went to verizon to buy a phone for pre paid they told me the phone had to be active on a yearly plan for at least 6 months before I could use it pre pay. This is wrong any smartphone that has been on market for 6 months can be activated right out of the box by dialing *22898. They just want you on a contract because it benefits them. Like straight talk iPhones 4s -5s in my area use Verizon's network. The only difference is they have straight talk sim. So think about it do you think that apple makes different versions of the same phone for different networks? Everyone is the same that's why when u buy from apple the last step they have you do is choose carrier. They will sell you phones with no plan and whichever sim you choose

I have personally used my iPhone 6 plus AT&T model on Verizon and it worked great. I was able to access 3G as well as LTE and VOLTE. Your phone hardware has to be CDMA capable to work on Verizon. Also, unless the model has been certified by Verizon they won't add it to their network. So, in my case I had to add a Verizon iPhone then move the sim to my 6 plus...

Iphone 5 or newer can be used on all networks. iphone 4s or earlier are fixed to only work on att or on verizon, but not both. Even when unlocked. AT&T iPhone 4s has the CDMA portion of the phone disabled and unusable. Verizon iphone 4s uses CDMA.

This is the only correct answer in all these comments. Yes, some people can switch. No, not everyone can. IT DEPENDS ON WHICH PHONE YOU HAVE.
Anonymous replied on Permalink
I have an AT&T IPhone 4s and it won't let switch to the prepaid verizon plan. But my boy friend has a verizon iPhone 4s. If I activate his iPhone with prepaid verizon then take his SIM card out and put it in my iPhone will it let me have verizon?
Anonymous replied on Permalink
I was wondering if i can use a unlocked att IPhone 4s for verizon
Anonymous replied on Permalink
YOU CANT USE ANY UNLOCKED PHONES FROM ANY CARRIER TO VERIZON, NO MATTER WHAT PHONE IT IS
j sims replied on Permalink
This is true for the iPhone 5s. I know this because although Apple makes iphones that are capable of working across all networks, AT&T wireless stores only sell the kind tha
t are NOT compatible with Verizon. So, maybe the confusion is due to that. Next time I will buy an iPhone at the iPhone store. And will be asking those kind of questions before I buy.
LINDA KOON replied on Permalink
This is ridiculous. Why are we not told that the phone we BUY is not transferable? I bought it outright from ATT and I will have to buy a new one from Verizon? NO THANKS! I'll keep my ATT service.
