The iPhone 5s launch has been another example of demand outpacing supply. Walking into an Apple store and leaving with the latest iPhone is easier said than done. Checking Apple's website to see if the device is in stock at multiple stores can be tedious. According to the latest estimates from Apple, ordering online means shipping will take place sometime in October, which could mean up to 28 days from now.

Now thanks to developer Mordy Tikotzky there's a handy tool named iPhone-Check that does all of the hard work for you. Simply enter a zip code along with the specific configuration you're looking for and voilà, the latest in-stock data from Apple's website is listed for the closest 20 Apple locations.

Apple has acknowledged a bug in iOS 7 that is causing some people to have problems with their iMessage app. Users have been reporting that they are unable to send messages, or are being forced to send messages twice. Others are receiving an alert after a message has been sent using the app.

“We are aware of an issue that affects a fraction of a percent of our iMessage users, and we will have a fix available in an upcoming software update,” Apple said in a statement. “In the meantime, we encourage any users having problems to reference our troubleshooting documents or contact AppleCare to help resolve their issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes impacted users.”

It looks like the jailbreaking team who brought us evasi0n is getting closer to cracking iOS 7. Planetbeing tweeted this afternoon: "We're still working hard on the jailbreak. May have all the pieces at this point (but not certain yet)."

This does not mean a public jailbreak is right around the corner, but it does show progress is being made.

This is great news for jailbreakers who are waiting to upgrade to iOS 7. The last public jailbreak was patched by iOS 6.1.3 in March, leaving millions of Apple users stranded at iOS 6.1.2.

Virgin Mobile is now offering the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c for a $100 cheaper than the normal SRP. The Sprint subsidiary launched the iPhone 5s today for $549, and the iPhone 5c for $449. The 16GB models are now available at Virgin Mobile retail stores or at VirginMobileUSA.com.

Virgin Mobile fans can also nab the 32GB iPhone 5c ($549), the 32GB iPhone 5s ($649) and the 64GB iPhone 5s ($749) at VirginMobileUSA.com. All 32GB models and up are only available online.

Scribd has officially announced its multi-platform digital book subscription service. The new e-book platform will allow users to access a library of more than "40 million books and documents, in 100 countries and 80 languages worldwide," according to the press release. HarperCollins has signed on as the first major publisher, and will lend its backlist catalog to the cloud-based service. Users will also be able to buy any title from the full HarperCollins catalog through Scribd's retail store.

Subscribers will be able to read their rented or purchased books on their iPhone, iPad, Android devices and web browsers. The service will also offer readers the ability to access papers analyzing the books, and see what content their friends have read.
