Why are some of my iPhone text messages green and some blue?

Green vs blue text messages iphone

You may have noticed some of your iPhone text messages have either a blue or green background.

A blue background means that the message exchange is happening via iMessage with another iOS device (an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Mac, etc). Text message rates don't apply, and these messages can be send through your cellular provider's data network or via WiFi (no cell service needed).

A green background means that the message is being exchanged with a non-iOS device (Android, Windows phone and so on) and was delivered via SMS through your mobile provider. Messages can only be exchanged with these recipients when you have cell service.

If all your messages are green, it could mean that iMessage has been disabled on your device Navigate to Settings > Messages and enable iMessage.

This explanation is not quite correct. The coloured background indicates the type of device you are sending TO, not where the message is coming FROM.

But I am sending from an iphone5 at&t to a Verizon iphone5??? However, previously have been texting to non iphones. And my settings show imessage on???

Why can I send a message to the same iPhone and one message be green and the next be blue and then back to green and then back to blue? When sending to the same phone

If you send a text from your iPhone to another iPhone which is turned on an connected to the web, then the message appears in blue. If it is not turned on the message appears in green. Anyone out there know any different?

Yes, I just went from a 4s to a 5s and some of my iPhone contacts are now green and some are blue. The only thing done was transferring from the old phone to the new phone.

I sent a message to my girlfriend and everytime it was green and I haven't talked to her in weeks and I just went to text her and it was blue ...(the last message I sent to her) however when I just texted her it was green ....so when I texted two weeks ago the message was green but I went back to text her today and it changed to blue then I texted her today and my next one was green again

that's not correct either. I'm an iphone user, so is the receiver, and I sent texts that had blue background this morning, and texts I'm sending now, are in green, to the same receiver!

It's just a fucking color

That could be that your significant other is tracking your messages

My boyfriend is on my T-Mobile plan but he works in the city so he is the only one that has the blue to green color change we both have phones. So how would I know if he is tracking me or he will tell me the phone was off. I am primary on the account so how would I know of he is tracking me
