Otterbox has announced its new Armor Series of smartphone cases for the iPhone 4/4S and iPhone 5. Otterbox claims these are the toughest cases they've ever built, and says they're waterproof for 30 minutes in 6.6 ft. of water, and can survive 10 ft. drops. The Armor case also allows for zero entry of dust and debris and can withstand two tons of crushing force.
The iPhone 5 case weights 3.91 oz and the iPhone 4/4S case weighs 4.23 oz. The case will set you back $100, but that's a lot cheaper than replacing your smashed or water damaged iPhone.
Wireless charging is not a new concept, the Palm Pre introduced the Touchstone Charger in 2009, and Samsung announced a wireless charging kit along with its Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone earlier this year. Even though the Samsung wireless kit has been delayed, a similar Verizon-branded charging station has been spotted at Verizon stores.
According to the DigiTimes, chip maker Intel may be adopting "its self-developed wireless charging technology into Intel-based ultrabooks and smartphones in the second half of 2013". Since Apple uses Intel’s chips in its MacBooks, the company could potentially adopt this upcoming technology... But I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Samsung has partnered with software maker Media Mushroom Applications to help iPhone users make the switch to the Samsung Galaxy S III. The two have created an app that allows users to easily transfer their iTunes and iOS data to Samsung's Galaxy line-up.
The Easy Phone Sync app uses an USB connection to transfer music, contacts, messages, photos and videos from your iTunes backup on your computer, to any Samsung Galaxy device. It comes in two parts: An app that runs on your Samsung smartphone and a Mac/PC client. I'm not sure if droves of iOS users are rushing out to buy a Galaxy S III, but it's a smart marketing ploy by Samsung.
