Will a T-Mobile SIM card work in my iPhone? They are both GSM/EDGE.
Out of the box, the GSM version of the Apple iPhone (up to the iPhone 4) and the iPhone 4S will only work on Apple approved GSM providers (i.e. AT&T).
T-Mobile SIM cards can be used in an iPhone that has been jailbroken and unlocked via third party software. There are a variety of commercial and non-commercial software options available which unlock the iPhone.
Though unlocking has become very common for users that do not want to be tied to a particular carrier or bound by a contract, users should understand that unlocking is performed 'at your own risk'.

the iPhone will NOT hold a SIM-card !! Remark the device :there is NO way to open it. Source from inside Apple confirmed me that the identity normaly stored on the SIM, will be put into the device by the provider. This is one if not the major reasons why Apple is starting in the US only with Cingular and not the other providers. Plans for Europe are indicating same direction : minimum number of providers (Vodaphone and Orange being one of them)

Actually, IT DOES! Being an iPhone owner/att wireless subscriber, I know, for a fact, that you CAN remove the SIM from the top of the phone. There is a little pin hole you push with a pin and the tray slides out and it holds the SIM... I've taken my sim out and put it back in the other day in an effort to restart the phone... so, arent we happy that this issue has been laid to rest? :) thank you, goodday.

I read your comment about the iphone holding a sim card. I just purchased an unlocked iphone on ebay. I have T-Mobile as my provider. What do I do when I get the phone so I can use it? Any help would be appreciated.

Firstnyou have tocmake sure its by at&t because they work with sim cards then you can unlock it and get a sim called gevey which will make t-mobile work with the iphone but don't recomend it because you can't update it after a while or gevey has found a way to by pass the update!

actually....i put my t-mobile sim card in an att iphone and it has all the old info still on it and none of my contacts, messages, pictures or anything load. so i don't know if you're 100% accurate just by pulling out your sim card.
