It was a big week for classic games on the Apple App Store. SEGA released Shining Force Classics with 3 episodes of the Shining series. The new SEGA Forever addition turns Shining in the Darkness, Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention and Shining Force II into 3 quests for players to complete.

Shining in the Darkness is a first-person, 3D dungeon crawler where players must find the Arms of Light, save the princess and their dad, then defeat the evil Dark Sol. Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention is an RPG that allows players to take control of up to 0 different characters at once. Players can increase their skills and attributes through strategy, combat, and exploration of 8 different scenarios and side quests. Shinning Force II is also a tactical, RPG with 16-bit graphics, a new story and cinematic battle sequences.

The never-ending tap, tap of physical keyboards has been replaced by a sound effect on the iPhone. Apple provides familiar clicking noises with its virtual iOS keyboard, which are enabled by default. While Keyboard Clicks may help to confirm that a character key is pressed, the sounds are not necessary. Some iPhone users may prefer to silence the iOS keyboard once and for all.

At a special event held today at the Howard Gilman Opera House in New York City, Apple announced new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models with edge-to-edge "Liquid Retina displays," a boosted Mac mini, a new MacBook Air, an updated Apple Pencil with wireless charging, but no AirPower charging mat. Apple fans have been waiting for the AirPower to be released since Apple previewed the device more than a year ago.

The iPhone virtual keyboard made waves at its introduction over 10 years ago. To help iPhone users transition from a physical keyboard, Apple includes Keyboard Clicks and Character Preview with iOS. While the first feature provides audio feedback, the latter inflates the size of keys as they are being tapped. Some would prefer the keyboard character animation switched off, for privacy or other reasons.

iOS 12 introduced Shortcuts, the successor to Workflow, which is an app that provides shortcuts that basically compress multiple-step tasks that involve using multiple apps into processes that require just a tap or two. For example, there is a shortcut called Home ETA that uses Maps to find your location and get the ETA for your trip home, then sends a custom message with your arrival time to whomever you set it up to send one to.
