iOS App of the Week: Civilization Revolution

Civilization Revolution

Civilization Revolution was released way back in 2009 but it is still one of my favorite strategy games on the Apple App Store. The iOS version is a great addition to the popular Civilization franchise, and it deserves another look from fans who ignored it the first time around.

For those who are new to the series, Civilization Revolution is a console version of the PC game developed by Firaxis Games and the original creator, Sid Meier. The iOS version was released as a redesigned iPad app, a universal app and a free "Lite" version. A sequel was released in 2014, but it was initially met with negative reviews by fans who claimed it was just a lazy remake. The sequel eventually managed to win some fans over earning a solid 4 star rating on the App Store.

iOS APP of the Week: Goat Simulator Waste of Space

Goat Simulator Waste of Space

Love it or hate it, Coffee Stain Studios' App Store joke has somehow managed to spawn three sequels. The third game in the series does what all bad franchises should do by traveling to space. In Goat Simulator Waste of Space, players leave Earth after surviving the zombie apocalypze in Goat Z and after wasting money on Goat MMO Simulator. But what does a goat do in space? He crowdfunds a space colony, of course.

iOS App of the Week: Opera VPN

Opera VPN

Opera has made paid VPN (Virtual Private Network) services a thing of the past by launching its own free VPN app. Opera VPN allows users to "do more on the web" by spoofing their location to get around region locked content, such as local sports. At launch the app offers five virtual locations (U.S., Canada, Germany, Singapore, and the Netherlands) with more planned in future updates.

iOS App of the Week: Hungry Shark World [Apple Replay]

Hungry Shark World

Hungry Shark is a classic everyone has played at some point in their life. The game has spawned several sequels, including Hungry Shark Night, a tie-in to the mostly forgotten PG-13 killer shark flick, Shark Night 3D. Ubisoft has updated the series with the release on Hungry Shark World. The new version of Hungry Shark is a big improvement over its predecessors with large open worlds, tons of enemies and hazards, plus entire oceans of stuff to eat and destroy.

iOS App of the Week: Yo-Kai Watch Wibble Wobble

Wibble Wobble

I'm shocked that Yo-Kai Watch Wibble Wobble has been struggling to find an audience. The latest tired Angry Birds game has managed to claw its way into the top 25 on the App Store charts, and Wibble Wobble is nowhere to be found. Wibble Wobble is a free-to-play, no IAP required, RPG/matching game that has so much replay value it is insane. I've been playing it nonstop for over a month and I can't stop collecting or training new teams of Yo-Kai.
