iPhone 6 and Hipsters Don't Mix: Apple's New Handset is Bending In People's Pockets

Here's a public service announcement, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are not water- or skinny jean proof. Some iPhone owners have reported that their new handsets have been bending in their pockets. A MacRumors forum member said their iPhone 6 Plus was damaged "during a day of dancing, dining, and driving to a wedding," while another iPhone owner said his device became bent after he just sat down.

Bendgate isn't really much of a surprise, as Wired points out, both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are "just over a quarter-inch thick and made largely of aluminum, a flexible metal". Storing your new iPhone in your tight pants pocket while bending, sitting or moving may cause it to bend and can even lead to costly repairs, as some owners are quickly finding out.

Don't Shame Your Apps Because of Apple's New Battery Usage Tool

To some consumers battery life is one of the most important features on a mobile device. Apple claims that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus get up to 10 hours of internet use on LTE and up to 14 hours of talk time on 3G. If you are finding that your new iPhone is falling short of Apple's battery claims you may want to check the new battery usage tool found in iOS 8. Just navigate to Settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage and you'll find a list of apps and how much power they're each using.

The battery usage tool shows you the apps that have used the most battery life in the last 24 hours or last 5 days. The knee jerk reaction would be to eliminate these power sucking apps, but just because they're at the top of the list doesn't meant they're evil battery killers. It just most likely means you use them a lot.

Five iOS 8 Keyboards You Should Give a Test Spin

iPhone owners have been stuck using Apple's default iOS keyboard since it was originally released in 2007, but now iPhone and iPad owners can choose to replace Apple's offering with a variety of third-party keyboards available on the App Store. Jailbreakers and Android users have long known about the advantages of having different keyboard options, but now all iOS 8 users can see why it is important to have choices. Here's a list of iOS 8 supported keyboards you can test out on your iPhone or iPad. It is worth at least checking out one or two of these third-party keyboards so you can know what you have been missing out on all these years. PanguTeam Already Working on an iOS 8 Jailbreak

The jailbreak team behind the Pangu iOS 7.1.x jailbreak announced on Weibo that they have begun working on hacking iOS 8. This does not mean an iOS 8 jailbreak tool will be released anytime soon, but it is good to know that someone is working on a solution since other developers, like the evad3rs, have been silent about their plans for future jailbreak releases.

The PanguTeam caused an uproar in the jailbreaking community in June when it burned two exploits to release its Pangu iOS 7.1.1 jailbreak. However Comex, the creator of JailbreakMe, expressed his support of the PanguTeam when he said he was happy that "public jailbreaks are no longer a monopoly."
