The App Store is suffering from a bit of a holiday hangover, meaning that quality new releases are at a minimum this week. However, there were a lot of news worthy releases right before the annual holiday shutdown of iTunes Connect in December. Most of the games were ports of quality PC and console titles, like Fez and Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty, with the biggest probably being Sid Meier's Civilization VI.

Investing in cryptocurrency is becoming increasingly popular. Pathfinder Duels is another officially licensed mobile title based on the popular physical RPG, Pathfinder, from Paizo Publishing. Pathfinder Adventures is the actual digital adaptation of Pazio's Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, while Pathfinder Duels is a collectible card game "inspired" by the Pathfinder Universe.

According to news from the supply chain, reports of the iPhone SE's demise are greatly exaggerated. In fact, Taiwanese market research firm TrendForce predicts an updated iPhone SE will indeed launch this year to target the mid-range smartphone market. A spring 2018 refresh of the iPhone SE was previously rumored in November.

All iPhone 6 or later models now qualify for $29 battery replacement

Apple is doing its best to pacify disgruntled iPhone owners after the performance throttling controversy revealed last week. The iPhone maker originally said it would begin offering $29 battery replacements to any iPhone owners whose qualifying device passed a diagnostic test. Now according to an internal memo obtained by iGen, Apple retail employees have been instructed to offer the reduced rate to any customers who request a replacement.
