The iPhone XS is equipped with two built-in stereo speakers. Apple claims that it features a "wider stereo sound" than its predecessor, the iPhone X. Apple also claims that they have enhanced the stereo separation of the dual speakers for both the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.
All iPhone models since the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus include NFC (Near Field Communication). The iPhone XS, XS Max and XR all include "reader mode," which allows users to scan compatible NFC tags without launching an app.
Apple will open pre-orders for both the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max at 12:01 AM PDT on Friday, September 14, 2018.
The iPhone XS and XS Max will begin shipping on Friday, September 28, 2018. Both models are available in Silver, Space Grey and Gold with storage capacities of 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB.
The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max feature a surgical-grade stainless steel body, with a glass screen and glass back for wireless charging. The metal case is an Apple-designed alloy with three finishes:
iPhone XS and XS Max owners can purchase accident protection directly from Apple. AppleCare+ covers up to two incidents over a two-year period of coverage. Apple also offers AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss, which can replace a missing iPhone.
Each plan has an initial cost, along with fees or deductibles for each incident.
