Nintendo Closes Down Gameboy Advance Emulator GBA4iOS

Anyone who tries to avoid pirating music, movies and video games will tell you sometimes companies make it hard. For example, when a studio refuses to release a specific film to DVD or Blu-ray fans have no choice but to download it illegally or keep a VCR handy. Or how about when you try to start watching a new television series, and only episodes 4, 5, 6, 22 and 24 are available On Demand? These scenarios can be frustrating and it sometimes forces customers to search for alternatives such as video game emulators.

GBAiOS

As most iOS gamers already know, NIntendo refuses to release its titles to mobile devices. Nintendo's no mobile game policy has caused some fans to use emulators such as GBA4iOS to port Nintendo games to their iPhone or iPad. Last night, GBA4iOS creator Riley Testut confirmed via Twitter that Nintendo sent a DMCA notice "requesting gba4iosapp.com to be shut down".

New Chat App Aims to Connect Lonely Applebee's Fans

Applebee’s lovers can now share their love of 2 for $20 meal deals by downloading the free WhatsApplebee's app from the Apple App Store. WhatsApplebee's is an "anonymous real-time chat service" that connects fans of the fast food chain, but only while they are actually inside an Applebee's restaurant. This feature allows users to know they're only being connected to true Applebee's aficionados, and not internet trolls looking to spoil a good time.

WhatsApplebee's

The app was created by developer Michael Lazer-Walker, not Applebee's itself. Walker designed the app as a joke telling Engadget, "I've seen so many apps that seem like they're a parody of Silicon Valley culture but are in fact real, actual products. I wanted to create something just on the other side of that line - something that's clearly a terrible idea, but not SO outlandish compared to the current state of things that you might, for a second, believe it's real."

Apple Employees' Vacation Time Restricted in September for Possible iPhone 6 Launch

Starting with the iPhone 4s, Apple's last few iPhone launches have occurred in the fall. The 4s had an October 2011 release date, the 5 was released on September 21, 2012, and the 5s and 5c were released on September 20, 2013. Judging by a report from iFun.de (via MacRumors), it appears that Apple will continue the tradition this year and launch the iPhone 6 in the latter half of September.

According to the report (the authors of which have "little reason to doubt the reliability of the source"), Apple will be restricting leave time for German Apple Store retail employees in September, which is what the company did last year, from September 15th to the 28th. The iPhone 5c, 5s and iOS 7 all launched during that window. The move will likely be expanded to include retail employees world-wide. Many analysts have already pointed to September as the likely launch time, but this

Keep iOS 7 Mail Attachments Encrypted with this Tweak

The jailbreak community has responded to the latest security research by Andreas Kurtz, who claims to have found a mail attachment encryption bug in iOS 7.0.4 and later. The problem arises when mail attachments are stored locally in an iOS mail folder. These files are not encrypted, making them accessible through the file system.

AttachmentEncryptor iOS bug fix

Of course, for this bug to threaten important data the iOS user must be receiving and storing critical information in mail attachments in an IMAP folder on the device. Furthermore, it sounds like the only way to access the unencrypted files is via access to the iOS device itself. In any case Apple has been notified of the problem by Kurtz and is currently working on a fix.

What to Expect from iOS 8 and WWDC 14

Apple's Worldwide Developers’ Conference is scheduled to kick off on June 2 in San Francisco, California. The company is expected to unveil iOS 8 and possibly introduce Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre in their new executive roles. According to Billboard.com, the duo will make an appearance if the rumored $3.2 billion deal between Apple and Beats Electronics goes through like it is supposed to later this week. However, the main focus of the event should be on iOS 8 which will introduce a slew of new features for Apple products.

Apple's Worldwide Developers’ Conference

On Tuesday, an unnamed 9to5Mac source revealed that the iPad will finally receive multitasking capabilities. The new feature will allow users to access two apps simultaneously and give developers a way to design apps that can interact with each other.
