iBooks Jailbreak Problems Fixed: Corona 5.0.1 Untether Updated

The Corona 5.0.1 Untether package has received another update, this time to correct an iBooks problem where images failed to display or displayed incorrectly after installation. Chronic Dev Team released Corona 5.0.1 Untether to free tethered jailbroken devices including the iPhone 4 from the need to reboot with a computer.

After installing early releases of both Corona and the redsn0w jailbreak for iPhone 4 and 3GS devices, some users had problems with iBooks including a Configuration Error dialog. The latest version of Corona (1.0-7) should fix both iBooks errors and can be installed directly from Cydia on a jailbroken device.

As developer Saurik notes, this new version of Corona also fixes a problem with installation on the original iPad. Corona 5.0.1 Untether 1.0-7 can be installed on all jailbroken devices running iOS 5.0.1 except for the iPhone 3GS with the old bootrom (MB model).

To check if your iPhone 3GS is an MB model navigate to Settings -> General -> About -> Model. If your model number begins with an MB your device has the old bootrom. Model numbers starting with MC are newer and can use Corona to untether and/or fix iBooks problems.

For those who are interested in jailbreaking their iPhone 4S or iPad 2, Chronic Dev Team has released the Absinthe untethered jailbreak for Apple's latest firmware.

UPDATE: Corona is now updated to version 1.0-8 to support iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0. Install directly from Cydia to fix iBooks problems after jailbreaking.
