Why did my YouTube app disappear?

Apple removed the stock YouTube app with the release of iOS 6. The app is still available on devices running iOS 5 or older. If you upgraded your device to iOS 6, you can download the new YouTube app via the App Store when it's released.

UPDATE: The new standalone YouTube app is now available for free in the App Store.

The link to get YouTube back on my iPhone 6 takes me to an app that has a Ghost "open" button... I can't access YouTube through safari either... Please help

I updated YouTube yesterday and have the same issues. YouTube app disappeared and safari won't open YouTube links.

Hey guys! I had this problem and was really frustrated because I use this app daily. While I was scrolling thru my settings, I looked at restrictions. Even though it said it was off, the restrictions were still in place. I had to change the limits for apps from 12+ to 17+. It immediately re-downloaded the app. I really hope this helps! -iloveart1

Thank you so much! That was it! That was why I could not see my youtube app - I have been trying to figure it out and such and I had no idea that was the reason until now! Thank you SO much!

My 12 yr old was melting down after having this exact problem. Would never have thought this was the cause of it. Thank you, thank you, thank you! U r a lifesaver!

This worked! Thanks so much.

I owe you a debt of gratitude. I had tried everything else and simply changing the limits to 17+ returned the youtube icon straight away. Thank you so much, my daughter will be delighted.

Hi, Thank you so much. This solved my problem. As for YouTube they didn't help me at all. Great that we have the general public helping people to solve their issues with apps etc.

Thank you so much!!!! I've been going nuts and now it's fixed!!!

Thank you, this worked!

Thank you.

The utube button is a ghost in the App Store- how can I get the utube app again?

Thank you so much this worked straight away! I had been installing and uninstalling like a wally!

I don't even have the 17+ option. Can someone help?

Did you click on the Settings app, then General, Restrictions, scroll down under Allowed Content, click Apps, and make sure 17+ is checked (other options are 4+, 9+ and 12+)?

I have struggled with this ghost thing for over a year. Google and Youtube. Apple couldnt help me! Your simple solution of 17+ solved it. Fantastic!! Thank you so much

I've got allow all apps checked (as well as all the other options!) but I've still got no YouTube icon and when I go to the App Store it shows I've already got it but won't let me open? Or in Safari? Please help!
