DisplaySearch Predicts 5.7-inch iPhone and iWatch in Apple Pipeline

The iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c are only a few weeks old, but that hasn't stopped analysts from speculating on future Apple products. The latest comes from David Hsieh of NPD DisplaySearch, who claims Apple will launch a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.7-inch iPhone with a 1,920 x 1,080 display in 2014.

Apple is also working on a 12.9-inch iPad with a 2,732 × 2,048 resolution display, a Retina MacBook Air with 12-inch screen, a 1.3-inch and 1.63-inch iWatch with a 320 × 320 flexible AMOLED display, and a 55-inch and 65-inch Apple TV, according to the research note.

But lets not forget, analysts have been promising us an iWatch, an Apple-branded TV and larger Apple products for years. However, none of these devices have ever materialized, besides maybe the iPad mini.

Hsieh also points out that Apple is no longer the leader in early display adoption.

"Apple is no longer able to offer unique features in its displays as a long-term differentiator. Mobile device brands are adopting the latest displays with large sizes, high resolution, wide color gamut and low color shift wide viewing angle, and low power consumption, supplied by many panel makers not 'bounded' by Apple. Introduction of the iPhone 5S and 5C was the latest example that Apple has been slow in adopting the latest display technologies."

Hsieh believes Apple needs to "bring its supply chain to the next level and take advantage of its integration capabilities" to compete with its competitors like Samsung.

I have been waiting patiently for an 5.5 - 6.0 inch iPhone. Still holding onto my 3GS.

If Apple does not have a 5.5+ inc screen in 2014, I will be going to an HTC MAX or Galaxy Note 3.

Very sad that Apple is missing a large middle age demographic !
