The next-generation iPhone hardware is reportedly in its "final testing stage," and looks to be on schedule for a fall launch, However, an Apple source told 9to5Mac that a deal has yet to be reached for 3G FaceTime over Verizon's network, and that the new iPhone may not have an 8-megapixel camera like we previously reported.

Currently FaceTime is limited over a WiFi connection, or jailbroken phones that trick the device into thinking it's using a WiFi network. Even though iOS 5 supports 3G FaceTime and over-the-air updates, Verizon is still working out kinks and may be delayed in delivering both.

Apple is now offering unlocked iPhone 4 models in the Apple Store. "Unlocked" means you can use AT&T or T-Mobile's network in the US without having to sign a two--year contract with either carrier. Unlocked doesn't mean "jailbroken," you still have to buy apps and receive software updates through Apple via iTunes. Another catch is that the unlocked iPhone doesn't support T-Mobile 3G download speeds and won’t operate on Verizon or Sprint at all.

To be clear, the iPhone will "work" on the T-Mobile network, meaning it can be used. However, you'll be stuck on the slower EDGE network, which most individuals will find practically unbearable. When given the option of a brand-new Android smartphone on T-Mobile's 3G and 4G network, you'd be hard pressed to find a compelling reason to use an unlocked iPhone on EDGE, regardless of how much we all love the iPhone.

1. Delete Individual Calls from Your iPhone Call Log

This is yet another iOS 5 feature that renders useless a jailbreak tweak. Previously, users needed to jailbreak and install a tweak in order to delete single calls from their call log. No longer. So, when you make that call at 3am that you'd prefer your girlfriend not see on your iPhone in the morning, you can now delete just that call from your recent calls list, rather than arousing suspicion by deleting the whole lot!

iPhone Dev Team released the first tethered redsn0w jailbreak for iOS 5 via their blog on Friday. MuscleNerd tweeted, "Last day of WWDC…seems as good time as any to release tethered iOS5 jailbreak (for Mac owners with registered UDIDs)"

The blog warns that the tool is intended only for developers of jailbroken apps, and that unlockers should stay away, or risk losing their unlockable baseband. The redsn0w beta runs on third- and fourth-generation iPod touch, iPad , iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 (both CDMA and GSM version).

It looks like the rumored 8 megapixel camera for the iPhone 5 is finally confirmed. DigiTimes has reported that OmniVision will be handling 90 percent of Apple's supply of 8 MP camera sensors, with Sony handling the other 10 percent.

In April, Sony sparked 8 MP camera rumors when CEO Howard Stringer said the company faced delays in image sensor production for Apple, due to its earthquake damaged facility in Sendi, Japan. There was speculation that Apple was looking to switch to Sony, from OmniVision, who handles production for the current 5 megapixel camera for the iPhone 4.
