How can set the number of rings on my iPhone before voicemail picks up?
You can set the iPhone to wait longer or shorter than the default 20 seconds before it goes to voicemail when receiving an incoming call. This will result in a different number of rings before the voice messaging system picks up the line and plays your outgoing message. To change the amount of time the iPhone will ring follow these steps:
1. Open the phone app and dial *#61# on the Keypad. Press the Call button.
2. Locate this text on the screen: "Setting Interrogation Succeeded, Voice Call Forwarding, When Unanswered, Forwards to +" and record the 11-digit number after the + symbol.
3. Touch the Dismiss button. Now enter this code on the Keypad: *61*+ followed by the 11-digit Forwards to number recorded in step 2, followed by *11 and *ringtime#. Ringtime is the number of seconds you want your iPhone to ring before voicemail picks up. Your finished code should look something like this:*61*+18555513466*11*30#

In the example above the ring time is set to 30 seconds. Press the Call button.
4. You should receive the message: Setting Activation Succeeded. Press Dismiss and next time you receive a call it will ring for the new amount of time before going to voicemail.

Worked fine for me

Tried this but I only get a 5 digit number, not 11. Used the 5 digit number but it didn't work. Same message as others received.

Are you f**king kidding me?! This should be an easy 10 second process done from your own phone! The instructions given did not work for me. Now I have to drive to the F-ing store to get them to do it. Too bad this elicits such profanity.

Thank you so much for these instructions! Worked perfectly :)

Dialed *#61# and tried #61#
Call could not be completed as dialed.
Is there not something in settings that could make this change?

I tried it and it works for the iPhone 5s with AT&T. Be sure to include the * key in the *#61# and hold down the 0 key to get a + symbol.

Did as instructed in the first step and got through ok - only problem is no activation number came up just disabled my voicemail!! Now have to try and reactivate that.

I had to do it twice because I needed to write down the phone number of my voice mail. I started over and when I got to the step where you put that number in along with some other symbols and numbers, it worked. When it said that this is how your screen should look, mine did not look like it but I pressed dismiss anyway as I had carefully followed the directions, and it worked.

Worked perfectly - thanks!

Didn't work the first time because I didn't know how to get the + sign so I used 0. When I figured that out it was no problem. I set my time for 40 seconds.

This worked but I entered the wrong # and now at the end of the rings it say its an invalid # and doesn't go to MY voicemail. How do I undo it?

Thank you. The directions worked for my iPhone 5; however, it does not seem to take any setting longer than 30 seconds....It seems to accept 60 and 90, but when tested, just rings for 30 seconds. Is there a max?

Worked great on AT&T 4s. Max time is around 30 seconds but that's a huge improvement over 20 seconds.

Kept getting error messages. Went into settings and turned off every choice under "Do not disturb"(found this info on the Apple site). Then, for good measure I made sure the phone was plugged into the wall and it worked right away.
Hope this helps!

This process worked, now just waiting for the phone to ring and see if I can finally catch it!
Thanks

It works! thanks for your help. You have to use multiples of 5 for the number of seconds, and yes you have to add the + otherwise it won't work (to do that just press and hold the 0 key and the plus will appear) I hope this helps! ;)
