iOS 9.2 jailbreak not coming soon, after all

iOS 9.0.2 jailbreak

Looking for an iOS 9.2 jailbreak? According to a recent report, the untethered jailbreak solution has encountered some "obstacles" and may not be ready for a while. Initially, news from 3K Assistant on Weibo sounded more optimistic. The group previously claimed an iOS 9.2 jailbreak was coming soon.

Now the success of a jailbreak solution for the latest version of iOS is in doubt. Whether the initial report jumped the gun, or the team ran into unforeseen difficulties when developing the jailbreak for public release remains to be seen. News from developers based in China is not always reliable or easy to come by, however teams such as Pangu and Taig have been known to release jailbreak solutions out of the blue. A similar surprise could be in the works for iOS 9.2, but there is no guarantee or timetable for release.

In the meantime, anyone interested in jailbreaking their iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is limited to the Pangu jailbreak for iOS 9.0.2. Later versions of Apple's mobile firmware cannot be jailbroken at this time. As usual, anyone who is already jailbroken should avoid updating iOS, as downgrading is impossible and the jailbreak will be lost.
