When is the iOS 11 release date?

Apple typically announces iOS updates at the Worldwide Developer's Conference. This year's event (WWDC17) is scheduled for June 5-9, 2017 in San Jose, California. But when will the new firmware be ready for launch?

Update: iOS 11 will release to the general public on Tuesday September 19, 2017.

Should Apple stick with its normal release schedule, iOS 11 will be available for download and installation in mid-September 2017.

iOS 11 will launch on the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. According to reports, Apple is working on a 10th anniversary iPhone. The iPhone Edition, also known as the iPhone 8 or iPhone X will also be released with iOS 11 already installed.

iOS 11 is rumored to include facial recognition and augmented reality (AR) features, as well as virtual reality (VR) recording capabilities for 360-degree viewing.
