How do I attach a thumbs up/down icon to a text message?

Thumbs Up and Down

Apple has made messaging even more expressive by adding the ability to attach Memojis, animated screen effects, stickers and more to text threads. Full-screen and bubble effects are attached when sending a text message, while "Tapback" expressions can be used to respond to a text message.

Expressions such as a heart, thumbs up/down, haha, exclamation point and question mark can be attached to individual message bubbles. Here's how to respond with either the thumbs up or down Tapback:

  1. Open the conversation you want to respond to in the Messages app.
  2. Lightly press and hold or double-tap a specific message bubble.
  3. Select one of the six expressions you want to send.

The recipient will be notified of your response like a typical text message.

This feature only works with current iOS devices.
