Do Not Disturb (DnD) mode can help minimize distraction and noise from the iPhone at specific times. By default, DnD can only be scheduled for Quiet Hours during one time period per day. The jailbreak tweak MeetingDnD vastly expands the utility of iOS DnD by enabling silence automatically based on events scheduled in the Calendar. This means the iPhone will automatically enter DnD mode during important meetings or at other predefined times during the day.

Finally, the official Google Calendar app has arrived on the iOS App Store. Users of Google Calendar for work or pleasure will enjoy the fact that Google has released its own take on calendar functionality for iPhone and iPad users. The app has a pleasant user interface and facilitates interaction with a Google Calendar account on iOS without complicating the process.

The native iOS app streamlines what was previously available only as a mobile website on the iPhone. Various third-party apps made it possible to view and interact with Google Calendar, but the official Calendar app found on Android devices was not available for Apple users until now. Google Calendar meshes with Exchange calendars as well, and plays nice with Gmail events. This means emailed event details can automatically be converted into calendar events.

The iPhone makes it possible to independently maintain several different calendars for separate event categories, such as work or home. Calendars can easily be added or deleted to accommodate individual needs and help stay organized each day, week or month. Every time a new event or appointment is added to the calendar, iOS 7 will provide the option to assign this event to a particular calendar.

To begin customizing the iPhone calendars, enter the Calendar app and tap Calendars at the bottom of the screen. The list of existing calendars and color codes will appear. To add a calendar tap Edit at the top left of the screen.
