Get Weather Updates in the iOS Status Bar

The iPhone keeps a practically limitless amount of information right at the user's fingertips. However, checking to see the current weather always requires a few taps. It could even mean entering a passcode, scrolling to a folder, and opening a weather app. Those with jailbroken iOS 8 devices can see current weather conditions in a more efficient way.

iOS 8 weather on status bar

With StatusbarWeather8 installed, the current temperature and weather conditions are displayed right in the status bar at all times. The weather data is pulled directly from the stock Weather app, which means the status bar will automatically show current conditions for the first city on the list. Once installed, there are some options to configure.

Keeping up to date with the weather has never been easier thanks to the iPhone. That is unless you count looking out the window or walking outside. Jailbreakers can now enjoy constant updates right on the home screen with StatusBarWeather7.

How do I delete / remove a city from the Weather app?

Deleting a city from the Weather app in iOS 7 or later is a little different than in previous versions, where you edited a list of locations. When you are in the app, if you aren't already in list view, go to it by tapping the list icon in the bottom right of the screen. Go to the city you want to delete and simply swipe right to left on it. This reveals the delete button. You can also change the order of the list by tapping and holding a city then dragging it to a new position.

How to Fix the iOS 6 evasi0n Weather App Bug [Jailbreak]

There is now a simple fix for the Weather app bug being caused by the new jailbreak tool evasi0n. Jailbreakers can grab the official patch under the “Changes” section of Cydia. If you do not see the UIKit Tools package under Changes, just try refreshing the page, and it should appear.

While evasi0n was a success with over 100,000 downloads in the first 10 minutes of its release on February 4th, it also crashed Apple’s stock Weather app on the iPhone. Thankfully the evad3rs, who released the jailbreak, quickly identified the problem and fixed it.
