Apple Weekly News Roundup: Apple Music debuts, iPhone 6s rumors and more

Apple Music launches with iOS 8.4.

Last week's Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) largely revolved around Apple Music , which debuted on Tuesday with the iOS 8.4 launch.

The new service is not a stand alone app, but rather appears as a collection of features in the Music app, including For You, New, Radio and Connect. For You offers playlist and artist recommendations based on your preferences, while New shows you recently added songs and albums. Radio gives you access to the highly touted Beats 1 worldwide live radio station. Beats 1 is free to all iOS users, regardless of whether or not they subscribe to Apple Music (which will be $9.99 per month following an initial free three month trial period). The Connect feature is a social network where fans can follow and interact with artists.

New iOS Apps, Games and JB Tweaks of the Week: Apple Music and more

The Executive

Apple released iOS 8.4 and its new music streaming service on Tuesday. Apple Music has been met with mixed reviews, and much confusion. Apple is forcing users to pick a monthly subscription plan before they can access the music service for free. iOS users must pick a $10 or $14 monthly plan, then disable the automatic renewal option in their Settings if they don't want to be charge in 3-months when their free trial ends. There is also some confusion about the difference between "Apple Music" and "Beats 1", and why Apple Music is part of the stock Music app. You can check out our Apple Music Guide for the answer to all of these questions.

iOS App of the Week: Lifetime Movie Club

Lifetime Movie Club

Lifetime has always been known for its over-the-top made for TV movies, but recently the basic cable channel has been hitting a lot of home runs. Not only is Lifetime giving the king of B-movies, the Syfy network, a run for its money by releasing internet fodder such as The Choking Game, but it has also found ratings success with its adaptations of V.C. Andrews' Flowers in the Attic novels. The network also got the internet talking thanks to its controversial biopic Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, and by nabbing big name talent such as Will Ferrell, Kristen Wiig and Bella Thorne.

Jailbreak iOS 8.4 with TaiG 2 (Not PPGhost)

TaiG the original iOS 8.4 jailbreak

Recently there has been much excitement and drama in the iOS jailbreak community. Last week's release of TaiG 2 for iOS 8.3 sent developers scrambling to update their packages for the latest firmware. The moment Cydia and countless tweaks were 8.3 ready, Apple Music launched on July 30 as part of the iOS 8.4 update. It was only hours until the first iOS 8.4 jailbreak entered the scene, however issues with the PP jailbreak tool have since come to light. TaiG immediately updated to version 2.2.0 for jailbreaking iOS 8.4, which is now recommended for all users over PPGhost.
