AT&T has started to unlock iPhones for customers who have completed their contract obligations. The process is as simple as contacting AT&T customer support and requesting the unlock on your device. Of course, your account must be in good standing (ie. paid up to date) for AT&T to provide the service.

Once your iPhone is unlocked, you are free to install any replacement micro-SIM card from another compatible GSM carrier. This means you can use your iPhone overseas or with another US carrier such as T-Mobile without resorting to any workarounds or jailbreak unlocking methods.

The iOS Messages app writes timestamps to selected incoming and outgoing SMS, MMS and iMessage notes. Selected because Apple has designed Messages to only write the timestamp after a certain amount of time has passed. This can result in long threads with no record of when the messages were sent.

Now thanks to the SMS Timestamps tweak on Cydia, you can choose to write a timestamp to every message if desired. The tweak also has options to write a timestamp in the Messages app in intervals of 1, 5 or 10 minutes so you know exactly what's going on.

Both Facebook and Dropbox raised eyebrows this week when a security flaw was discovered that could reveal iOS users' personal data. The good news is that both companies are working on a patch to correct the security hole. In addition, the threat of your information actually being stolen is low.

The flaw enables access to personal data only if the malicious person going after your data has physical access to your iPhone or iPad. When it comes to Facebook, the issue revolves around use of a plain text file known as a .plist to store sensitive login information. Copying the file to another iOS device enables access to the victim's account using the Facebook app.

Beginning Sunday, April 8, qualifying customers will be able to request a carrier unlock from AT&T. iPhone users who wish to unlock their iPhones must have their AT&T accounts in order, and not be associated with a current and active term commitment with the carrier.

Unlocked iPhones allow users to replace AT&T's micro-SIM with other compatible network cards. This is a great option for people who frequently travel, and would like to use international or other local carriers. An AT&T spokeswoman confirmed the news with Engadget. Rockstar Games has announced that Max Payne Mobile will be available for iOS devices on Thursday, April 12th. The Android version will be available two weeks later on April 26th. Both the iOS and Android versions will feature HD graphics, high-resolution textures, Social Club connectivity and user-customizable controls. Pricing is unknown, but Rockstar's last iOS game Grand Theft Auto III retailed for $2.99.

Max Payne Mobile will be available for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch 4, iPad, iPad 2 and the new iPad. A list of supported Android devices will be listed on their blog in the coming weeks.
