Saying video game fans are excited for the release of Fallout 4 next week is an understatement. The collectible Pip-Boy edition has been sold out for months, and the free-to-play building game Fallout Shelter has been a hit on the App Store since its release in June. Taking advantage of the excitement, Bethesda has released the official Fallout Pip-Boy app a few days ahead of the console and PC release on November 10.

Google continues to enhance the iOS version of its Google Maps app, which has recently been updated to 4.12. The free app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users also includes Apple Watch support. The latest update adds a significant feature: real-time spoken traffic alerts in navigation mode. Ever since Google acquired the popular navigation service Waze over two years ago, real-time traffic alerts have been available in Google Maps. Now drivers will not have to take their eyes off the road to hear about upcoming congestion and incidents on the route ahead.

Apple to update 4-inch iPhone in early 2016

Next generation iPhone rumors are already flying, with heavy-hitting analysts starting to weigh in with their own research. As MacRumors reports, Ming-Chi Kuo at KGI securities expects Apple to release an updated 4-inch iPhone sometime in the first half of next year. This release schedule would be a departure for Apple, since the company has typically launched new iPhone models only once per year. Summer updates were replaced by fall product launches in recent years, with the iPhone 7 expected to debut in fall 2016.

Flickr iOS app updated with '3D Touch Extended'

Lots of developers are updating their apps with 3D Touch features for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, but Yahoo has taken it one step further by updating their photo hosting app Flickr with what they're calling "3D Touch Extended". Flickr users can now perform Peek and Pop actions, and access a quick Home screen menu by using the 3D Touch technology found on their iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

Fallout CHAT now available for iOS devices

Bethesda Game Studios has released a Fallout keyboard for iOS devices one week before Fallout 4 officially launches for consoles. Fallout CHAT allows users to send fully customized texts to other iOS users, and it features over 60 emoji plus animated Vault Boy GIFs. The Fallout CHAT is available on the App Store for free. It supports all devices running iOS 8.4 or later.
