Apple Says NFC is Only for Apple Pay

Apple fans have waited a long time for NFC and now they will have to wait even longer to know what else it can do besides drive mobile payments. An Apple spokeswoman told Cult of Mac that the "NFC chip on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus is only for use with Apple Pay."

Apple doesn't plan to advertise NFC as a major feature for its new devices and will keep it locked off from third-party developers for at least a year. This means even though the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have NFC, Apple fans will still be left out of all the NFC fun teased in Samsung commercials.

AAPL Financial News Weekly Roundup: iPhone 6, Apple Watch Announced

After the official unveiling of the iPhone 6 and Apple Watch, Apple's share price (NASDAQ: AAPL) fell slightly, closing at $97.99 on Tuesday, after a day of heavy trading. This is no surprise, as the company's stock follows a trend of dropping off after iPhones are announced. As was also expected, share prices gained value for the rest of the week, closing at $101.66 on Friday.

New iOS Apps, Games and JB Tweaks of the Week: Dragon Quest I, Spider-Man Unlimited and More

Not only did Apple announce two new iPhones and an Apple Watch this week, but it set a pre-order sales record and helped U2's first studio album in five years reach 2 million downloads on iTunes. While this is all good news for Apple fans it also means everything else came to a crawl including App Store releases while developers wait for the release of iOS 8 on September 17. It is also unknown if and when iOS 8 will be jailbroken so Cydia releases may also start to slow down too.

Two quick notes before we get to this week's releases, accessory makers are already shipping iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus cases, and the MOGA Bluetooth Rebel MFi controller will support the 6 and 6 Plus. It will be available on September 17th and pre-orders are currently being accepted.

MOGA Rebel Controller will Support the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

The MOGA Rebel MFi controller is releasing just a few days before the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on September 17th. The good news is that it's extendable clip (or MOGA S.M.R.T. Lock), which holds the iPhone, extends to 3.75 inches, meaning users will be able to attach the 3.07-inch iPhone 6 Plus to the controller.

The MOGA Rebel connects to the iPad (4th generation and above) and the iPhone/iPod Touch (5th generation and above) via Bluetooth. Obviously the MOGA S.M.R.T. Lock will not work with anything larger than an iPhone 6 Plus, but any basic iPad stand will work for use with all of Apple's tablets. The controller features an Xbox-like design with shoulder buttons and triggers, a D-pad and two analog sticks. It is also supports "hundreds" of games, according to MOGA.
