Best Buy to Bring Back $100 iPhone Trade-In Program

A leaked internal document obtained by TechnoBuffalo reveals that Best Buy is preparing to roll out another iPhone trade-in program. According to the image posted below, Best Buy will offer a minimum of $100 in credit to customers who trade-in select smartphones. The smartphones have to be in working condition, and the credit must be used to purchase a new iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c. The promotion will run from October 13 to October 19 and will only be available at select participating locations. Previously Best Buy was offering $50 in credit to anyone who purchased an iPhone 5c, without having to trade-in an older device.

As you may already know, $100 isn't really a great deal for a used iPhone. Electronics resellers such as NextWorth and Gazelle offer much more money for older Apple products. You can compare iPhone trade-in prices using our table here.

Foursquare Real-time Recommendations Now Available on iOS Devices

Foursquare announced its new updated iOS app today on its blog. The location-based social networking service now offers real-time recommendations for a "small batch" of iOS users. The new feature sends users notifications about the best items to order or about money saving deals based on their current location.

Foursquare promises that the real-time recommendations will be "in everyone's hands" very soon, but for now all users can enjoy the new "Right Now" and "Friends at a Glance" features by upgrading to version 6.4.

The "Right Now" button allows users to check which friends are currently nearby, and the "Friends at a Glance" option offers a quick look at each friend’s most recent check-in. Users can also see what their friends have been up to by tapping their profile and viewing their check-in history.

DisplaySearch Predicts 5.7-inch iPhone and iWatch in Apple Pipeline

The iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c are only a few weeks old, but that hasn't stopped analysts from speculating on future Apple products. The latest comes from David Hsieh of NPD DisplaySearch, who claims Apple will launch a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.7-inch iPhone with a 1,920 x 1,080 display in 2014.

Apple is also working on a 12.9-inch iPad with a 2,732 × 2,048 resolution display, a Retina MacBook Air with 12-inch screen, a 1.3-inch and 1.63-inch iWatch with a 320 × 320 flexible AMOLED display, and a 55-inch and 65-inch Apple TV, according to the research note.

iTunes Radio Expanding Outside of U.S. in 2014

ITunes Radio, the free music service which was launched with iOS 7 in the U.S on September 18th, will be making its international debut in 2014. Currently available exclusively in the United States, Apple is looking to expand its reach into Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United Kingdom.

The streaming service is giving Pandora a run for its money. The program comes automatically with the iPhone 5s and 5c and is now part of the iTunes 11.1 update, making it available on the Mac and PC. So far, over 11 million people have reportedly tried out the music program. The inclusion of iTunes Radio with iOS 7 has given Apple a slight advantage in the battle for streaming dominance since there are no extra apps for users to download.

$10,000 Solid Gold iPhone Case Now Available

If you weren’t able to get your hands on the coveted gold iPhone 5s last month when the new model was launched, accessory designer Miansai has just the thing to satisfy your needs. For the low price of $10,000, the company is offering a case made out of actual solid gold.

Solid Gold iPhone Case

Company founder Michael Andrew Saiger told Market Watch the product was initially “a kind of joke,” but to his surprise people have “loved it.” The ostentatious case is admittedly impractical when it comes to protecting your iPhone, but with a five-figure sticker price it serves as more of a status symbol than anything else. Both the front and corners of the phone are exposed. Also, solid gold isn’t the strongest metal, so if you drop it, don’t count on the case to adequately safeguard your device.
