iOS App of the Week: Civilization Revolution

Civilization Revolution

Civilization Revolution was released way back in 2009 but it is still one of my favorite strategy games on the Apple App Store. The iOS version is a great addition to the popular Civilization franchise, and it deserves another look from fans who ignored it the first time around.

For those who are new to the series, Civilization Revolution is a console version of the PC game developed by Firaxis Games and the original creator, Sid Meier. The iOS version was released as a redesigned iPad app, a universal app and a free "Lite" version. A sequel was released in 2014, but it was initially met with negative reviews by fans who claimed it was just a lazy remake. The sequel eventually managed to win some fans over earning a solid 4 star rating on the App Store.

Lightning to 3.5mm audio adapters are coming soon

Lightning to 3.5mm audio adapter

Reports continue to surface indicating that Apple will ditch the 3.5mm audio jack on the next generation iPhone. This move would leave the iPhone 7 with just a Lightning port, and the device would ship with Lightning-compatible headphones in the box. Apple is also said to be developing wireless Bluetooth EarPods that will be available separately. Now Mac Otakara reveals several Lightning to 3.5mm audio adapters that are set to hit the market.

Twitter gets full 3D Touch support on iPhone

Twitter 3D Touch iOS

Twitter has silently joined the collection of iOS apps with Peek and Pop gestures. Now iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus owners can use 3D Touch to interact with Twitter version 6.54 and later. While the official update notes simply say "A few minor updates that you didn’t even know you needed," the new gestures have been added throughout the app. Previously, Twitter only offered few Quick Actions from its home screen icon.
