How can I encrypt my iPhone backup in iTunes?

You can increase your iPhone backup security by encrypting backup files written to your computer during an iTunes syncing operation. This means that should your computer be lost or stolen, the backup files from your iPhone will be password protected. Contacts, location data, calendars and other sensitive information from your iPhone is stored in each backup file.

To encrypt your iPhone backups:

1. Open the iTunes application on your computer.
2. Connect your device to the computer via USB.
3. Click on the icon of your iPhone in the left menu under DEVICES.
4. Under the Summary tab -> Options -> check the box Encrypt iPhone backup.
5. You will be prompted for a password, enter it twice.
6. Click Set Password.
7. Backups will be encrypted from now on when you sync your iPhone.

If you are worried that past backups are not encrypted you can delete them, although you will lose all data stored in these backup files. Find your backup files on a computer running Windows or here on a computer running OS X.

Best luck!

If you can not remember your backup password, there is nothing more you can do. The backup is encrypted. It wouldn't be much good to password protect it if it were easy to crack.

but iSeePassword iTunes backup password recovery software can easily and fast unlock the password protected iTunes backup, I've been successfully recovered my backup password.

I'm sure it will work with you.

If you don't have the password, there is no way around it. It's encrypted. Passwords serve a purpose. If it was easy to bypass them, there wouldn't be much point, would there?

If you don't know the password, you're not going to get access to that backup unless you remember it.
but you can unlock your iTunes backup password with iTunes password recovery program.
